Cyber safety sessions with Susan McLean later this year

We have been able to secure a date with Susan McLean, Australia’s foremost expert in the area of cyber safety, to run sessions with our 3-6 students and a parent information session regarding current understandings of all things relating to ‘online safety’.

Susan will be running her sessions on Thursday 4th December.

Susan presented last year to our students and families, and we received very positive feedback from families who attended, so we encourage families to add this to your calendar as ‘save the date’ so you can attend.  We will confirm start time for the parent session and more details about the session once confirmed with Susan.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in schools

Throughout the year and more recently we have had some questions regarding the use and application of AI in the school setting.

Artificial Intelligence software is a relatively new and quickly emerging resource that comes with many positive and potential negative considerations for their use in schools and with children.

The department has a policy around AI in schools, that outlines what schools are and are not able to use AI software for in a school setting with our students. The primary focuss is on protecting the privacy of personally identifiable information, including uploading media, of students.

If you are interested in this policy, please find it attached for your reference.
