Bush School News:
Bush School is one of the great things about our school - thanks to our brilliant teacher, Whaea Nicole.
Some photos to follow - A few bush school boys have been interested in making jewellery and little trinkets, so Nicole found a bunch of Poumanu and stone offcuts and a Dremel, and they chose, planned and created their own taonga.
Whaea Nicole talked to the boys about gifting their first piece but I'm not sure any of them want to part with them. Over the next few weeks, we are hoping they will all get the chance to make one or two.
In these pictures, you can see the progression in Isiris's ability to hold and control the Dremel—from Nic helping to finding a finger rest and then being able to do it all himself. It's so cool to watch!!
Angus comes to see Whaea Nicole once a week at lunchtime to build a birdhouse. He has a plan and works consistently throughout all of lunchtime. They have great conversations and he happily allows others to join in and allocates jobs for them to do along with the safety briefing where necessary.
