Glee
Our Glee Team spent a whole Friday at the Aotea Centre a fortnight ago. Glee coaches Annette and Nicole did an outstanding job preparing 93 children aged 6 to 11 to perform on the biggest stage at the biggest performance venue in the country.
It was quite incredible to see our six-year-olds step out onto that intimidating stage in front of a packed auditorium and perform with pride, passion, and pizazz!
We were the only primary school competing on Friday night. There were several nights of performances to cover all the competing Auckland schools. The organisers said they thought we were the best primary school overall.
We came third on the night and won some prestigious awards - Best School Spirit, Best Theme, Best Video Wall, and Best Styling. They either award a Best for the top award, or a Highly Commended for any other deserving recipient. We also gained a Highly Commended for Choreography.
Seeing six-year-olds perform on the same stage as senior students from prestigious schools such as St Cuthberts was inspiring. Our children were phenoms, and I am incredibly proud of everyone involved in making this happen. Our parent support crew was awesome—sincere thanks to them all.
What an amazing opportunity and outcome.
