Industrial Action - Thursday 23 July
You may be aware that the Australian Education Union has announced a statewide full-day stop work on Thursday 23 July 2026, as part of ongoing negotiations with the Victorian Government around funding and conditions for public education.
At this stage, we do not yet know exactly how many staff at Keelonith Primary School will participate in the action. However, based on the previous stop-work in March this year, we anticipate the impact on school operations is likely, with a number of our staff expected to take part.
Once we have a clearer picture of staff numbers and further guidance from the Department of Education, we will update our school community, including what this means for individual classes.
As always, the school will ensure that, supervision is available for the children of critical services workers.
We are aware of the impact on swimming for Year 1 and 5 students on Thursday 23 July and are investigating an alternative date to accommodate the cancellation of this day. We will communicate the outcome once we have more information to share.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
NAPLAN
During 3-Way Conferences, parents should have received their child's NAPLAN results. If you missed these conferences, these results have been sent home with your child today.
NAPLAN results give families a snapshot of how their child is tracking in reading, writing, and numeracy against national standards. These results are one part of the picture and are best considered alongside your child's classroom learning and teacher feedback.
100 Days of School
Today our Preps celebrated 100 Days of School! This is always a fantastic milestone and achievement.
It's wonderful to reflect on how much these students have achieved over their first 100 days, from taking their first steps in reading and writing, to growing in confidence and independence with learning and developing friendships. Well done, Preps, we can't wait to see what the next 100 days bring!"
Dance Program
This week marked the start of our Dance Lessons with Kinect Performing Arts. The students had a ball learning their new dance routines, which we are excited to present to the community with a Showcase during the afternoon on Tuesday 15th September. Stay tuned for more details closer to the event.
STEM Open House
Thursday's STEM Open House gave families a wonderful opportunity to walk through the STEM Room alongside their children during 3-Way Conferences, exploring activit that showcased our STEM program (Years 3–6).
Parents and carers were able to see first-hand the learning that has taken place throughout the year, with displays covering Stomp Rockets, Robotics (Bee-Bots, micro:bits and Coding Trains), Design a Rocket Crawler, and Create a Space Zine. It was a great chance for children to walk their families through their own work and talk about what they'd learned.
Thank you to Paula for putting together such an amazing showcase.
Lunch Time Clubs
We are excited to introduce clubs again this term. They are as follows:
This is the first week clubs have been running, and we've already had a steady stream of students coming along to participate.
