PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Welcome Back to Term 3!

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and is feeling refreshed for another exciting term of learning and growth. We look forward to the many opportunities and events that the term will bring.

There is certainly plenty happening this term! Our Level 4 students are eagerly looking forward to camp in Week 4, we have a range of exciting excursions planned, Book Week and Book of the Year celebrations, House and Inter-school athletic events and many other learning opportunities to come.  It's shaping up to be a busy and exciting term for everyone.

Sutton Street Toilets:

I'm also pleased to share that our Sutton Street toilet block is now complete and looks fantastic! These new facilities are a wonderful addition to our school and will be used by our Level 1 and Level 2 students. We ask families to continue reinforcing the importance of treating these shared spaces with respect and responsibility so they remain clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone.

Little Easties Transition Program:

Little Easties also returns next week! This Term our popular transition program is available exclusively for children enrolled to begin Prep at Echuca East Primary School in 2027. If you haven't already registered your child, please do so as soon as possible, as places are limited.

AEU Proposed Stop Work Action:

I would also like to advise families that the Australian Education Union (AEU) has proposed stop work action for next Thursday 23rd July. As a result, your child's class may be impacted.

This industrial action is part of ongoing negotiations to secure more equitable salaries and working conditions for Victorian educators. Many other Australian states have already achieved improved salaries and conditions, and Victoria continues to lose experienced teachers and education support staff to interstate education systems that offer more competitive pay and conditions. Supporting this action is about advocating for a strong, sustainable public education workforce that can attract and retain quality staff, ultimately benefiting all students.

At this stage, we are awaiting further information and will provide an update to families closer to the day regarding any changes to school operations. In the meantime, we encourage families to consider alternative care arrangements should they be required.

National Pyjama Day:

A reminder that Friday 24 July is National Pyjama Day! Students are invited to come to school dressed in their favourite pyjamas and bring along a gold coin donation. All funds raised will support the Pyjama Foundation, helping children in foster care with learning, literacy and life skills. We look forward to seeing everyone in their cosy PJs while supporting this wonderful cause.
