WHAT:         Gardenvale Primary’s School Musical for 2026

WHO:           All Year 5 and 6 students and 2 students from each other class in the school.

WHERE:      ALEXANDER THEATRE, Monash University, Clayton

LEAD ROLE rehearsal:    Monday 14th September      -      1.00 – 5.00 Alexander Theatre

FULL CAST rehearsal:     Tuesday 15th September      -      9.00 – 2.30 - Alexander Theatre

OPENING NIGHT:             Tuesday 15th September      -      7.30 pm Alexander Theatre

MATINEE                             Wednesday 16th September  -   11.00 am Alexander Theatre

NIGHT TWO:                       Wednesday 16th September  -   7.30 pm Alexander Theatre

EVENING SHOW:              Thursday 17th September      -    5.30 pm Alexander Theatre

Dear Gardenvale Community,

The Gardenvale musical for 2026, ‘SHOWDOWN!,’ has been written and everything is well underway. 

Showdown! is a fun, modern day musical that centres around a group of students who, after finding out the school musical has been cancelled due to a school build, work together against the odds to create a musical of their own. Full of vibrant, interesting characters and with original songs and dances, we are sure the Gardenvale families will love it. Auditions are being held this week, and the cast will soon be selected and notified of their roles. It is expected that all students in Years 5 and 6 be involved in the musical in an acting, singing or dancing capacity. As the musical is in the last week of Term 3 this year, please ensure we are notified if your child will be unable to attend due to early holidays.

2 students are selected from each of the classes from Years Prep to 4. The selection of these students is made at the discretion of the Performing Arts teacher and the class teacher, and they will be notified early next term. 

Musical hoodies will be available for purchase and sample sizes will be in the Junior School office area for you to try on in the next few weeks. You will be asked to pre-order your hoodies. We hope to open the ordering on 17th March. You will have 2 weeks to order, and we hope to get the hoodies to you in early Term 2. We would like to sincerely thank Nicole Goodman for all her work on the logo which will be displayed around the school for all to see in the next few weeks. A compass message will be sent out with more information soon, so stay tuned!! 

We are very excited about this production of SHOWDOWN! and encourage all school families to put the dates in your diary and make it a ‘must see’ production for 2026.
