Principal's Report

It was a pleasure to see the school looking its best last Monday for our professional photo shoot. These new images will showcase our learning environment and community on our updated website, which is set to launch in the coming months. Our students were a credit to the school throughout the day and were a big part of why the shoot was so successful. We look forward to sharing a sneak peek of some of these shots with you as soon as they become available.
Division and District Swimming
A big well done to all the students who represented the school at District swimming in recent weeks. Congratulations to Orange W, James H, Jessica K, Isla F, Amy S and Melanie K, who successfully progressed and competed at the Division level on Monday. It is a great effort to make it to this stage of the competition, and all students were fantastic representatives for the school.
NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for Years 3 and 5 students will begin on Wednesday 11th March. These assessments provide a snapshot of each student’s current ability in Literacy and Numeracy compared students in the same year level around Australia. NAPLAN assesses knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy.
The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers which we use to help support and improve student achievement. Further details for our Year 3 and 5 parents have been posted on Compass.
School Readiness
It was great to host our first School Readiness session last night. Mrs Shacklock led the children and parents through several exciting musical activities, before Mrs Pickford took over with some fun parachute games in the hall. It was wonderful to see the children so active and involved throughout the session. Information about our upcoming dates is at the bottom of this page, and hard copies are available at the office if you would like to share them with friends or family.
School Tours
Our first tours for 2027 enrolments have already started and we are seeing very positive interest in the school, with many tours already booking out! If you are aware of any local families or friends looking to enrol their children please encourage them to book a tour via the website ASAP.
For our current families I encourage you to let the office know if you have a sibling starting in 2027 and we can guide you through the application process. We also welcome you and your children to join us for the readiness sessions.
Cultural Festival
We are very much looking forward to seeing you all at our upcoming Cultural Festival on Thursday 19th March. It is shaping up to be a great evening for our school community to come together. For those who would like to pre-order food for the night, you can do so using the link below:

Kiss and Drop
Our Kiss and Drop zone is a great initiative that helps keep traffic moving and makes morning drop-offs more efficient. To ensure this process runs smoothly and safely for everyone, we ask families to follow these key rules:
- Designated Area: The zone is marked by the red car parks. Please pull into the red zone to drop off your children, then safely merge right to re-enter the traffic.
- No Parking Times: The Kiss and Drop area is a strictly no-parking zone from 8:45 am to 9:00 am, and again from 3:30 pm to 3:45 pm.
- Left-Side Exit Only: Children must only enter and exit the car from the left-hand side (passenger side). Exiting from the right means stepping directly into moving traffic. If your child requires assistance getting out of the car, we ask that you park and walk them in.
- Bags Inside the Car: All school bags and instruments should be kept inside the car with your child, not in the boot. If you need to access the boot for larger items, please park in a designated spot for that day.
- Independence: This zone is designed for children who can confidently and independently get in and out of the car. Our teachers are there to supervise the area and ensure overall safety.
- Additional Parking: If, for any of the reasons outlined above, you need to park and walk your children into school, additional parking is available at One Church on Surrey Road.
Please refer to the diagram below for a visual guide to our Kiss and Drop areas. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation in keeping our students safe.
Curriculum Day - this Friday
A reminder that this Friday, 6th March is a Curriculum Day. TheirCare will be offering a program for any children who require supervision. The staff will be engaging in Professional Learning, working with a spelling consultant to further develop our consistent, whole-school approach to the teaching of spelling.
Parent Helper Session
Thanks to Lou Tribolet and Sarah Rohit who ran our Parent Helper training session last week. It was great to see so many parents there. We highly value the contribution of our parents in our school and look forward to welcoming many of you into the classrooms.
