Lightning Prem Sports – Semester 1
On Friday 12th June, our Grade 6 students participated in the Lightning Premier Sports Day, competing against other schools in the local area. This semester’s sports included AFL 9’s, Badminton, Netball, Soccer, and T-Ball. Thankfully, the weather was mild and sunny, making for an exciting and enjoyable day of sport.
The AFL 9’s team travelled to Hillsmeade Primary School to compete in a round-robin competition. The team played a total of six games against strong opposition, finishing with 2 wins and 4 losses, placing them 5th overall. Despite having only one player on interchange for the entire day, the team demonstrated great determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Well done to all players involved!
The Badminton and Soccer teams travelled to Narre Warren South P–12 College, where they played back-to-back matches throughout the day. Our badminton team secured several wins along with a few losses and performed exceptionally well, finishing as runners-up overall. A fantastic effort from all players!
The soccer team also competed in a round-robin tournament at Narre Warren South P–12 College. The boys played five matches against tough opposition, winning their first three games and drawing the final two. They displayed excellent teamwork throughout the day, supporting and encouraging one another in every match. Great work, team!
The Netball and T-Ball teams travelled to Tulliallan Primary School. Our girls’ and mixed netball teams each played four games. The mixed team recorded one draw, with the remaining games being closely contested. The girls’ team won all their matches, finishing as Grand Finalists and progressing to the Division level next term. Well done to all our netball players for demonstrating resilience, teamwork, and respect!
Our Mixed and Girls T-Ball teams also competed at Tulliallan Primary School, each playing four games. Both teams showed excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout the day. They represented our school with pride, encouraging one another and playing fairly in every match. Congratulations to our Mixed T-Ball team, who had a fantastic tournament and returned as runners-up, earning a well-deserved pennant. This is a wonderful achievement and reflects their hard work and dedication.
A big thank you to Mr Fenech and Mr Apps for organising the teams, training, coaching, equipment, and transport for the day. Thank you also to the classroom teachers—Miss Pallot, Ms Dove, Miss T, Mrs Wallace, and Mr Robinson—for their support, training, and coaching leading up to the Lightning Premier Sports Day.
