Science

You matter. Unless you multiply yourself times the speed of light squared. Then you energy.

We look forward to partnering with you in 2025, and welcome your input:

Here we are in Term Two already!! This term in Science all year levels will be focusing on Physical Science. I am really excited to see what the term brings!

Soft Plastics

Just a reminder, as a school we are collecting soft plastics. If you do see any soft plastic come home, gently remind your child to make sure they remember to put it in their class or levels' soft plastic tub. The Science captains, Beau and Alexander, come around every Thursday to collect.

Donations

Thank you so much to the families who have donated cardboard, shoeboxes and toy cars. It is much appreciated. We will be using the shoeboxes and toy cars later in the term, so if you do have any lying around, I will still happily take them off your hands. Thank you again!

Year One and Two learning

So far this term, our Year One and Year Two students are learning about forces. We had fun making funny faces by pushing and pulling our lips, nose, eyes, cheeks… etc.

We have also had some fun outside, learning about how force can also change he direction of an object. We used out kicking skills to push a ball around a circle and try to make it go in different directions.

The students have now started their first hands on project for the term, which is designing a mini golf hole. They have come up with a design and have done a labelled drawing. The next step is to start creating their hole! I am so excited to see what they come up with.

Year Three/Four learning

Our Year Three/Four students have started this term learning about force. They have learnt to use arrows to not only show the direction an object is moving but also to use the arrow to show the strength of the force. For example, a short arrow represents a weak force and a long arrow represents a strong force.

This week the students have prepared for an experiment next week, testing the strength of force.

Year Five/Six learning

This term in Science, our Year Five/Six students are studying light. They have learnt that light travels in a straight line/s and that the light will reflect off an object in order for us to see the object. They also learnt that it is only because of light, that we can see.

We also have been really intrigued by Bioluminescent light, so now the students are researching about a Bioluminescent living thing of their choice and using that knowledge to create their own glowing creature.
