Term Two
Welcome to Term Two! We have already had such a wonderful beginning to the term and we still have so much to look forward to. Students have settled so well back into the routine of school which has been wonderful to see.
We have so far had swimming, athletics day, cross country and Mother's Day afternoon! Still to come this term we have 5/6 winter sports, district cross country (selected students only), volleyball cup (at Upwey HS), aerobics competitions, VSSS dance rehearsals and more!
We look forward to a fun and exciting Term Two.
Inquiry
This Term in Inquiry, Year 5/6 students will be exploring the world of Media Arts. Students will be exploring some key questions such as: what are some different media arts genres? How are digital stories (including film) and different media arts elements developed? What are some of the processes involved? How could you plan, produce and present your own digital story?
Throughout this unit students will develop their Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening skills. Students will explore the representations, characterisations and viewpoints of media arts works including film, digital stories and other media. They will develop their knowledge of structure, settings, genre, conventions, use of images, sound and text and learn skills in developing media using a variety of technologies.
For their final Inquiry project, students will be working in small groups to make a short 3 minute film based on a fairy tale (but with added twists!). Students have all chosen their fairy tale and are currently working on their scripts and are preparing to film.
Swimming
Earlier this term, students participated in the Swimming Program held at Knox Leisureworks. The program ran for the entire week, with the last day providing an opportunity for students to apply their skills across a range of fun and engaging water activities. Students had a great time at the pool.
Athletics and Cross Country
On Wednesday 23rd April was the Years 3-6 Athletics Day. It was great to see so many students representing their house and giving lots of different athletic sports a try. Congratulations to all students and best of luck to those through to district athletics.
Friday 9th May was our whole school cross country event. Well done to all students who participated and supported their house.
5/6 Camp
Year 5/6 Camp is fast approaching and we are very excited! Our Sovereign Hill Camp starts on Monday 21st July 2025 - Wednesday 23rd July.
Camp is now live on Compass for payment and consent. All relevant details can be found within the Compass event. Any general camp questions can be directed to Stacey Bowles at Stacey.Bowles@education.vic.gov.au. Any questions regarding finance can be directed to Janet Young in the school office.
Save the Date
Year Six graduation is being held on Thursday 11th December 2025 at Marybrooke Manor from 5pm - 9pm. More information about graduation will be sent home early term four.
