Year Two

Communicating with the Year Two Team
We look forward to partnering with you in 2025, and welcome your input:
When communicating with the Year Two team, please reach out via the below email addresses. Your child's class teacher is your first point of contact when requiring a discussion. You will usually see us outside the classrooms at the end of the day. This is the preferred time to catch us for a quick chat as we are focused on greeting the students before school.
Please also note that we have scheduled meetings at 3.45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Term One Highlights:
Swimming Program
In Term One we had our school swimming program at Knox Leisureworks. The students developed their floating, breathing and stroke skills as well as practising water safety.
Inquiry in Term One- Paddock to Plate
In Term One the Year Two students investigated where our food comes from. We learnt about the life cycle of plants and explored what plants need to survive and thrive.
Each class potted and cared for some iceberg lettuce plants. The students observed and measured the plants growth over several weeks.
Term Two
We are excited to commence another action-packed term full of learning and special events.
The students have been focused on demonstrating the school values of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RESILIENCE.
We began the term learning about ANZAC day. The students had some meaningful discussions about what ANZAC means and how it is commemorated around our local area.
We celebrated our mums and special people for Mother's Day by having an afternoon of wonderful activities at school. This included decorating 'Fun Buns', drawing portraits, visiting the photo booth and ping-pong competitions.
The students have also participated in the whole school Cross Country event. House colours and fun was the theme for the run around our school grounds.
Inquiry - Term Two 2025
'Then and Now'
Students are exploring the history of our local community and how it has changed over time. We are learning about changes from Indigenous peoples to the colonial years and comparing then to now. We are covering changes in fashion, toys, transport, food, technology and family life. Students are exploring the effect of changing technology on people’s lives. We will investigate how the lives of our first nations peoples have changed.
Students will look at the similarities and differences between the past and the present.
During this unit, students will look at the changes in toys over time.
Weekly Timetables:

Home Reading
Thank you to all the students who are remembering to bring their reading diary and green wallet into school every Monday for book swapping and checking. New Term Two diaries have been handed out to children who have brought their green wallets to school for borrowing.
We are currently auditing our books for home reading and looking at making some new additions to the student reading material.
