Robots are alive in Year 6

In the last week we have had a special visitor who has introduced us to something very unique...

Robots!

Last Friday, a lady named Henrietta  presented us to robots named Edison and taught us about them. They are hand sized robots with wheels. They have three buttons on the top one to start, one to stop and one to record.

We learnt how to program them by going to the website (edison v3) picking the blocks we wanted to use then plugging in the usb cord into our chromebook then downloading the data into the robot. Once it was all programmed we simply pressed the start button and then the robot did whatever you programmed it to.

Some groups made their robot spin, some made their robots race and some made their robots sing. You could do all sorts with the robot.

During the second session on Monday we learnt how to build extra attachments to the robot. We built on to make the robot draw a perfect circle. Today we had a session where we learnt how to make the robots stop at an object.

We are only half way through with the program but we look forward to enjoying the rest of it and we would like to say thank you to Henrietta and all the people who helped organise this program.
