Dharnya Cultural Centre

On Monday 19th October, our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students travelled to the Dharnya Centre in Barmah State Forest for a day of Culture, connection and learning on Country.

Students participated in a Cultural Walk through the forest, learning about the history of Barmah State Forest before and after colonisation, as well as the ongoing work being undertaken to heal and care for Country.

This was followed by a Yarning Circle, where important cultural themes were explored, stories and knowledge were shared, and students were encouraged to ask questions, share their perspectives and deepen their understanding of Culture.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with Country, learn from knowledge holders and strengthen connections with one another.
