A Night to Remember: SKiPPS Parent Trivia Night!

What a night! Last Saturday's SKiPPS Parent Trivia Night was an absolutely wonderful success, bringing together parents, carers and staff for an evening of laughter, creativity, entertainment and community spirit.
Firstly, we couldn't have asked for a better venue. The St Kilda Life Saving Club provided a spectacular setting for the evening, with its incredible function space offering million-dollar views across St Kilda Beach and a beautiful sunset to kick things off. We are enormously grateful to the club for their generosity in allowing us to use this fantastic venue for a fraction of its usual cost. Their support made a real difference to the success of the night.
This year's theme, 'Creatures of the Night', certainly brought out the creative side of our community! Parents and staff embraced the theme wholeheartedly, interpreting it in a thousand different ways, from the spooky and sinister to the downright hilarious. As you'll see from the accompanying photos, our school value of Creativity clearly doesn't stop at the school gates! The effort, imagination and enthusiasm that went into the costumes were quite extraordinary.
With delicious food, plenty of drinks, some suitably terrifying horror-themed trivia and fantastic music, the evening had everything needed for a brilliant night out. More importantly, it was another opportunity for our school community to come together, catch up with old friends, make new connections and simply enjoy each other's company.
Of course, the evening was also an important fundraiser for our school. We are still finalising the figures, but it is already clear that the night has raised many thousands of dollars for SKiPPS. This is a fantastic result, and we will share the final total with our community once all the calculations are complete.
Events like this don't happen without an enormous amount of work behind the scenes. A huge thank you to our wonderful fundraising sub-committee, particularly Bec Walton, Uno De Waal, Mat Gdanitz and Isabel Robinson, for the many hours of planning, organising and hard work that went into making the evening such a success. From securing the venue to bringing all the different elements of the night together, their efforts were outstanding, and we are incredibly grateful.
A special thank you also goes to our very own SKiPPS parent band, Parental Guidance, for providing fantastic live entertainment, and to DJ James Steevenson for keeping the music and atmosphere going throughout the evening. What a talented community we have!
Finally, thank you to every parent, carer and staff member who purchased a ticket, dressed up, joined in the fun and supported the evening. The money raised is wonderful, but equally valuable is the sense of connection and community that events like this help build.
A fantastic night, a fantastic fundraising result and another reminder of what makes the SKiPPS community so special. Thank you, everyone!
St Kilda Life Saving Club Open Day: This Saturday!
After enjoying their wonderful hospitality at Trivia Night, here's another opportunity to visit the St Kilda Life Saving Club!
The club is holding an Open Day this Saturday, 17 October, and we'd encourage SKiPPS families to head along, enjoy the fantastic facilities and learn more about the important work the club does in keeping our local beaches and community safe.
It's a great opportunity to explore the club, meet some of the people involved and find out how you and your family might get involved in this wonderful local organisation.
After their generosity in supporting our school, it would be fantastic to see some SKiPPS families returning the support. Why not pop down and take a look?
