From the Executive Principal

As we step into Term 2, I trust that the recent term break provided opportunities for rest, renewal and precious time with family. Breaks in the rhythm of school life are important moments to pause, reflect and return refreshed for all that God has ahead.

Over the break, the Easter season invited us to once again centre our hearts on the hope we have in Christ. Easter reminds us that from sacrifice comes renewal, and from faithfulness, new life. As a school community, this is a powerful truth to carry into the term ahead.

Cuppa with the Executive Principal

One of the great joys at the end of last term was hosting our first “Cuppa with the Executive Principal” event. It was a genuinely wonderful opportunity to meet with families, share stories, listen, and enjoy meaningful conversation together in a relaxed setting.

Thank you to those who were able to attend. Your presence, feedback and encouragement were deeply appreciated. These gatherings will become a regular opportunity for connection, and we are excited that future cuppas will be hosted in our new school café once it officially opens. More details will be shared in the coming weeks, and I warmly encourage families to join us when they can.

Community is built one conversation at a time, and these moments matter.

Supporting Our Community: Term 2 Bus Pilot

It has been encouraging to see many families choose to participate in the Term 2 bus pilot, with up to 75 new families beginning to use the service this term. This initiative is an important step in supporting families while also working to ease traffic flow during peak school times.

Thank you to the families who have embraced this option. Your willingness to engage with new solutions reflects our shared commitment to practical improvements for the whole community.

Yan Yean Road Works Update

We are aware that the Yan Yean Road development has now commenced. At this stage, works are underway, and once there is clear information regarding timelines or any direct impact on PVCC, we will communicate promptly with families.

As always, we remain committed to keeping the community informed and supported as external developments unfold.

Behind the Scenes: Strengthening the Foundations of Our School

While much of school life is visible in classrooms, events and community gatherings, there has also been significant work happening behind the scenes.

Over recent months, we have launched our Annual Implementation Plan, which outlines the key priorities and actions for the year ahead, aligned closely to our Strategic Plan. This work helps ensure that our daily decisions and initiatives are purposeful, measured and connected to our long‑term vision.

Alongside this, substantial progress has been and will continue to be made in areas of risk management, compliance, Occupational Health and Safety, medical consent and Child Safety. A range of policy updates and training is being implemented and will continue to roll out throughout this term. This work is essential in creating safe, well‑governed and responsible environments where students and staff can thrive.

This focus reflects careful stewardship, attending to the foundations so that excellence can flourish.

One of our values: Striving for Excellence as Image Bearers of Christ

At PVCC, we speak often about excellence, not as perfection, but as faithfulness.

Scripture reminds us:

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Colossians 3:23

We believe that because we are image bearers of Christ, we strive for excellence. Excellence is expressed in how we learn, how we teach, how we care for one another, and how we lead. It is seen in integrity, diligence, compassion and humility.

Excellence honours God not through striving for recognition, but through offering our very best, in big moments and in small, unseen acts of faithfulness.

Excellence is at the heart of our leadership, both in visible roles across classrooms and community events, and in the essential behind-the-scenes work of stewardship, risk management, compliance and Child Safety. These faithful efforts support a safe and nurturing school environment. Excellence in learning is seen in our commitment to engaging, thoughtful teaching, encouraging students to grow academically and personally. Beyond academics, excellence shines in how we care for each other, serve our community, and lead with integrity and compassion. All these expressions of excellence reflect our dedication to honouring God in every aspect of school life.

As we begin this term, may excellence be shaped by grace, grounded in purpose, and lived out joyfully across our community.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership, trust and support. I look forward to all that God will do in and through our school this term.

Grace and peace,

Natasha Mackinnon
