Formula One Excursion

In Week 8, the year 11 VM students and year 10 Systems Engineering classes attended the Formula One Driving Program at the Albert Park Grand Prix Raceway. As part of promoting the VM and STEM programs at CSC, students participated in hands-on activities and workshops hosted by vendors in the event. In addition to viewing exciting races performed in deluxe Formula One racing cars by talented Victorian drivers, the students also got to appreciate the finer points of science, technology, engineering and mathematics applied to vehicle design.

Some of the exhibits included, servicing cars, designing your own vehicle, sustainability, careers in STEM and the motor vehicle and racing industry. There were also many exhibitions displaying types of renewable and cleaner fuels which are key steps in paving the way for the future. Naturally, the display of vintage, classic and modern vehicles was eye-catching and amazing. These were sponsored by Shell, Mclaren, Toyota, Ferrari, Rolex, Motorsport, Tesla, Red Bull, Mercedes, Alpine and even included TRANSFORMERS!

It was fantastic to see our students enjoy their time at the racecourses, but also the eager and excited faces watching their favourite racing mascots driving or being interviewed on the massive display screens.

We would like to thank Mr. Sayers, our year 12 leading teacher for organising the event, together with special acknowledgements to our assistant principals Ms. Sipsas, Ms. Dass and Mr. McGavisk, year 11 leading teacher Mr. Liber and CSC staff, Ms. Leony Conto, Hannah Atkinson, Shanaz Alqas Alias.  Their help made the day possible and eventful for our students. We look forward to many more exciting outings this year!
