Year 12 Ice Hockey Excursion

The year 12 Physical Education class recently participated in an ice hockey excursion at IceHQ in Reservoir. Once the students were all geared up in ice hockey equipment, the IceHQ staff provided a quick off-ice safety lesson covering how to fall safely and how to get back up!

The on-ice session included a skating lesson and time to practise, followed by a hockey skills lesson and then extra practise just in case! The class’s improvement was so rapid, that they were able to participate in a cross-ice game by the end of the session – a true credit to the effort and determination of the students.

The excursion helped to enrich the students' learning experience and deepen their understanding of concepts covered in the Biomechanics unit, for instance, stability and friction. The excursion also provided an opportunity to collect primary data for the upcoming SAC. Thank you to IceHQ for hosting us.
