Acknowledging IDAHOBIT Day at Footscray West Primary School - Friday, 16th May 2025

At Footscray West Primary School, we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all. In recognition of IDAHOBIT Day (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia) on May 17th, we will be acknowledging this important day on Friday, 16th May, as the 17th falls on a Saturday this year.

We warmly encourage all members of our school community to wear or display rainbow colours on Friday the 16th as a visible sign of support and respect for LGBTQIA+ identities. Wearing a rainbow is a simple yet powerful way to show that we stand together against discrimination and celebrate diversity.

In the lead-up to the day, students will also be learning about the significance of IDAHOBIT during their Library specialist sessions, helping them understand the importance of inclusion and allyship.

Let’s join together in creating a school community where everyone feels safe, valued, and proud of who they are.

In further support of our LGBTQIA+ community, we will be further acknowledging Wear It Purple Day on Friday, 29th August this year. To learn more about this important day, visit: wearitpurple.org
