A Step Outside the Curriculum

While our year 12 students diligently transitioned from unit 3 to unit 4, our year 11 students enjoyed a well-deserved break from the gruelling demands of VCE. This day away from the day-to-day curriculum was not only about fostering academic excellence but also about nurturing the character development of our young individuals.

Procrastination Monkey

The day commenced with a session on careers and study skills, featuring insightful workshops by Toolbox,  Toolbox delved into the concept of the "procrastination monkey" that lurks in all of our minds, hindering productivity and progress. With compelling anecdotes and practical strategies, Toolbox guided students in identifying and overcoming procrastination tendencies. Armed with this newfound understanding, students are better equipped to navigate the demands of academic and professional life, ensuring that the procrastination monkey doesn't derail their goals and aspirations.

Diverse Activities, Boundless Exploration

Following the morning session, students embarked on a journey of exploration through a range of activities tailored to their interests. From the sizzle of culinary delights in the cooking workshop to the pulse-pounding excitement of sports activities, and the vibrant expression of creativity in the art workshop, every student found their niche and embraced the opportunity for growth. Please see some of the talented work from our sculpturing workshop.

Nurturing Mental Health and Resilience

A highlight of the day was the mental health workshop facilitated by Speak & Share, a local organization with a powerful and engaging message of resilience and support. Their heartfelt narrative resonated deeply with our students, fostering a sense of empathy and understanding while providing valuable insights into mental well-being. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of community and connection in times of challenge.

Looking Ahead with Confidence

As we look ahead, several exciting and important events are on the horizon at our senior campus.

First, we are eagerly anticipating the G10 Summit, a career-focused day dedicated to our Year 10 students. This event will provide them with valuable insights into various career paths and help them make informed decisions about their future.

Additionally, on June 18th, our senior students enrolled in Unit 3/4 subjects will participate in the General Achievement Test (GAT). This marathon three-hour test is a significant milestone, and only those students will attend school on this day to complete the assessment.

As we approach the end of the term, we encourage all our students to maintain their focus and dedication. A strong finish will set a positive tone for the rest of the year. We especially want to commend our Year 12 students, who have only 16 weeks left in their final year. Your hard work and perseverance are truly commendable, and we are confident you will achieve great success in your remaining time with us.

Let's continue to support one another and strive for excellence as we move forward.

Also, Congratulations to Year 10 student Pip Asome for her recent appearance on the TV show “Hard Quiz Kids”. Airing on Saturday, June 8th, Tom Gleeson hosts this fun quiz show on ABC kids/family. Pip is no stranger to television and media appearances, and this was another fun experience for her to add to her resume. Well done, Pip!
