Dear Parents and Carers,
HAPPY SACRED HEART DAY!
Please find below my address to staff, students and guests who gathered for Mass earlier today.
Have a great weekend
Greg Miller
Principal
Good morning students, staff, guests, and members of our Chevalier community.
There are days in the life of a school that feel more like homecomings than events. Sacred Heart Day is one of those days. It’s a celebration of who we are, of the spirit that animates this place, and of the love that has shaped generations of Chevalier students and staff.
From the hearts painted on our faces this morning, to the shared laughter and games that fill the day, Sacred Heart Day is a living expression of our mission. It’s a reminder that we are not just a school, we are a community formed in love, called to compassion, and committed to peace.
This year, our Year 12 theme encourages us to “Share Your Part of the Sacred Heart.” It’s a theme that speaks directly to the heart of what it means to be a Chev student. It’s not about holding back or waiting for the perfect moment. It’s about recognising that each of us, no matter our age, our role, or our story, has something meaningful to offer.
To share your part means to give of yourself. To be generous with your time, your kindness, and your courage. It means being the person who lifts others up, who listens with empathy, who acts with integrity. Whether you’re in Year 7 or Year 12, whether you’re a staff member or a guest here today, your part matters. And when you share it, you help shape the heart of this community.
When we each share our part, something extraordinary happens. We become more than a collection of individuals, we become a Sacred Heart community; one known for its compassion and kindness, which should not be mistaken for weakness.
May today be a celebration of joy, acknowledgement of our connection, and a reminder that the spirit of the Sacred Heart of Jesus lives in each one of us.
May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved – forever!

We were excited to welcome youth advocate and educator Daniel Principe back to the College on Monday 2 June. Following a day engaging with our students, alongside Emma Tabacaru, through the workshop ‘Championing young people in a digital world’, Daniel also spoke to parents and carers in the evening, where he unpacked what the latest academic research reveals about how current social and cultural forces are affecting young people’s wellbeing and their relationships. Daniel discussed what really matters to young people, and provided clarity and tools to help young people analyse and challenge the culture around them.
Daniel has shared the slides he spoke to at the parent / caregivers evening, which we are also sharing with you, along with an article that gives an overview of what Daniel presents for further insights on his messaging.
Although this is focussed on boys, and the girls’ presentations were delivered by Emma, the content was written by Daniel with a female focus.
Keep an eye out for further resources that will be shared over the coming weeks.

Through the MSC Mission Office, the College is supporting a school in Papua New Guinea to help them construct clean water tanks. Students raised money throughout this week by sponsoring their House for the Sacred Heart Gift - a relay race run on Sacred Heart Day. The more money a House raised, the shorter the distance their runners needed to run in the Sacred Heart Gift relay race today. In addition, all proceeds from the Mission Concert will support this project, and donations can be made at the Mission Concert tonight.
