Future citizens, Future leaders
The NSW Premier's Reading Challenge is now open and Cecil Hills High School is excited to be participating!
What is the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge?
The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is a statewide Challenge that encourages students to develop a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students and enables them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition, but a challenge to encourage each student to read, to read more, and to read more widely.
These are the spine labels to look for to select Premier's Reading Challenge books
How many books do students need to read?
Students in Year 7 to Year 10 are challenged to read twenty books independently.
At least ten of these books must be from the relevant Challenge book lists, and up to ten books can be personal choice books.
Click on the link below for more information on the rules of the Premier's Reading Challenge:
Books must be added to a student’s online reading record by Friday 23 August 2024 in order for their reading record to be validated and receive a certificate.
Pictured below are the previous winners of the 2021 PRC medal winners (L to R) Falline and Abbey who are now successful Year 12 students.
Reading leads to success!
Literacy in Action
Students recently had fun setting up a train set and on another occasion juicing oranges from Mrs Green’s personal orchard. Both times opportunities to engage, converse, problem solve. Literacy in action.
