A world of opportunities
Year 8 Innovation Elective - Food Lovers Project Showcase
I am delighted to share a recap of the Year 8 Food Lovers' Project Showcase, where our students presented their impressive projects. Each project included a written component such as power points, posters, cookbooks, videos, and more, showcasing their creativity and dedication to Food Lovers. Accompanying their written projects were practical food items that attendees had the opportunity to sample, providing a taste of the students' culinary skills. Thank you to Mrs Howse for her dedication to everything Food Lovers and all who attended and supported our Year 8 students.
Year 8 Innovation Elective: Just Desserts
Our Year 8 students have truly excelled in the art of baking this semester, demonstrating skills that rival those of professional pastry chefs. Through their participation in the 'Great Cecil Bake Off,' they have not only showcased their talents but also their dedication to mastering the craft of dessert making. Throughout the semester, our Year 8 students have learned the art of creating gorgeous treats such as cupcakes, cookies, brownies, biscuits, and much more. Their creations were not just delicious but also beautifully decorated. At the culmination of their hard work, our year 8 students had the opportunity to share their creations with peers, and teachers—a testament to their growth and achievement in the 'Just Desserts' program. I would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks to Mrs Marin, Miss Preston and Mrs Marando for their dedication and commitment to our Year 8 students.
Year 8 Innovation Elective Show Business - What a Performance!
This past week at Cecil was filled with tremendous energy, showcasing the remarkable talent of our students and the dedication of our Miss McRae-Taylor. The Year 8 Show Business Innovation Elective students had been diligently working over the past two terms to produce a spectacular musical theatre performance of "Hairspray".
During this time, they developed their skills in dance, drama, and production, pouring their hearts into every aspect of the production. We are immensely proud of our students and grateful for the support of our staff in making this event a success

Exciting Learning Opportunity for Year 12 History Students
Thirty-five students from our HSC Modern and Ancient History classes embarked on an enriching trip to Sydney University. They had the privilege of attending lectures delivered by experienced HSC markers, an invaluable experience as they prepare for their upcoming HSC Trials in week 3 and 4 next term.
The Year 12 cohort represented Cecil School with exceptional behaviour and enthusiasm, making the most of this opportunity to deepen their understanding and refine their exam strategies. Special thanks to Miss Fisher for her dedicated efforts in organising and accompanying our classes of 2024.
Year 12 Cowpasture Prefect Afternoon Tea
Earlier this term we had the pleasure of hosting the Cowpasture Prefect Afternoon Tea, bringing together students from across our network of schools. It was a fantastic event made possible by the hard work and creativity of our own students, who impressed us all with their organisation and enthusiasm. Special thanks go to Mrs Tiary for her unwavering support and commitment to our prefect and Student Representative Council (SRC).
Pyjama Foundation Day
I would like to thank our SRC students who organised a fantastic Pyjama Foundation Day to raise funds for the Pyjama Foundation. Students were dressed in an array of comfortable and fun Pyjamas and enjoyed the opportunity to purchase hot chocolates, cookies and more. Thank you to the SRC and the whole school for their efforts to raise money that will provide children and young people in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence. Our school has raised $954.45 for this important cause.
Celebrating Refugee Week 2024 at Cecil
I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of our Refugee Week lunch held this term. Our refugees enrich our Cecil community with their presence, and events like these highlight the warmth and inclusivity that define us. Bringing families, staff, and students together to share a meal and stories fosters empathy and understanding of refugee experiences, while also celebrating the diversity and inclusivity of our community.
Special thanks to Mrs Rattos and Mrs Naim for your continuous dedication to all refugee students.
