It has been another busy and positive fortnight across both campuses, with many opportunities to celebrate our students and share the work of our school with the wider community.

From leadership recognition to community engagement and student-led fundraising, it has been wonderful to see our students stepping up, showing pride in their school and living our values.

Celebrating Student Leaders

Today at the Senior Campus we had the pleasure of welcoming School Council President Di Steven and Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe to present leadership badges to our School Captains, Vice Captains, Student Voice Council members and Year 12 leaders. It was a fantastic opportunity to welcome families and loved ones to celebrate these students and the important roles they play within our school community.

Leadership is not always about holding a title. True leadership is about living by our values, connecting with others and wanting the best for the community around you. Our student leaders demonstrate our expectations of Being Safe, Being Respectful and Being a Learner each day, and we look forward to seeing the positive influence they will continue to have across the school.

Pink Stumps Day

Our Student Voice leaders also brought plenty of energy to the Senior Campus today by hosting Pink Stumps Day in support of the McGrath Foundation. Students and staff came together in a sea of pink for the annual Students vs Staff cricket match, creating a fun and spirited way to raise awareness and funds for a great cause. It was fantastic to see students taking the lead in organising such a meaningful community event.

Community Open Day

On Saturday 21 February, our Junior Campus proudly opened its doors to the broader Greater Shepparton community for a Community Open Day. This was a special opportunity to welcome members of the Wanganui Park Secondary College community and show them how their former school site continues to support and enrich the lives of young people across the Goulburn Valley.

More than 120 visitors joined us throughout the morning, touring the office, Early Education Program, school grounds, Community Hub building and classrooms. It was wonderful to share the work happening across our school and showcase the dedication of our staff and students. Opportunities like this help strengthen understanding within the broader community about the incredible work taking place every day at Banmira.

School Council – Parent Representatives

We are currently seeking parent representatives for our School Council. School Council plays an important role in the governance of the school, helping shape policies, priorities and the strategic direction of Banmira. Members work alongside school leadership to support decision-making around school improvement, programs, and community engagement.

If you are interested in learning more or nominating as a parent representative, please contact Francine at the Junior Campus Office. School Council meets once per month on a Monday evening, and we welcome parents who are keen to contribute to the ongoing growth and success of our school.

It has been wonderful seeing so many moments of pride, leadership and community spirit across the past fortnight, and we look forward to the exciting weeks ahead.
