HOLY THURSDAY - GOOD FRIDAY - EASTER SUNDAY
Easter holds a significant position in the Church's annual schedule. Our observance of Holy Week commenced on Sunday, marking the beginning of a series of events. Palm Sunday inaugurated this sequence, symbolizing Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. On Thursday (tonight), we commemorate the Last Supper, followed by Jesus' crucifixion on Good Friday (tomorrow at 3.00pm). Finally, Easter Sunday is dedicated to celebrating the resurrection of Jesus.
Holy Thursday
Today is Holy Thursday, a day dedicated to commemorating the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, during which he instituted the sacrament of Holy Communion before his arrest and crucifixion. This significant event took place in Jerusalem, where Jesus shared a final meal with his Disciples, breaking bread and drinking wine, a tradition that we continue in Mass, along with the symbolic act of washing the Disciples' feet.
Good Friday
Tomorrow is Good Friday, a significant day in Christianity. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, where he was nailed to a cross and ultimately died. Jesus endured immense suffering, being flogged, tormented, ridiculed, and even crowned with thorns. He bravely carried his cross to Calvary, where he was then nailed and crucified. These events are depicted in the Stations of the Cross. After the extraordinary events of the day, Jesus' body was taken down from the cross and placed in a tomb that was generously donated, following the customary burial practices.
Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday is a momentous day in the Christian calendar, symbolizing the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a time of joy, celebration, and introspection for Christians worldwide. This sacred day is commemorated through various religious rituals, family gatherings, and festive feasts. It serves as an opportunity to rejoice in Jesus Christ's resurrection and honour the assurance of eternal life. The jubilation of Easter Sunday is uplifting, spreading joy and optimism to all who partake in the observance of this meaningful day.
Prayer
Gracious God,
You have heard the cries of your people.
You have sent Jesus to us to be our redeemer.
Open our eyes to see the immensity of your love for us and the wonder of what you have done for us.
Give us the courage to be your hands and heart for those who need us.
Give us the wisdom to speak out for justice and righteousness.
May your will be done in us today and always.
Amen

Please return your Project Compassion Boxes to school by the end of this term.
