FREE TRAVEL CHANGES FROM JANUARY 1, 2026

Free Public Transport for All Victorians Under 18

From 1 January 2026, all Victorians under 18 years of age will be eligible for a new Youth myki card, providing free travel on trains, trams and buses across the state, seven days a week.

This initiative is designed to reduce financial barriers for families and improve young people’s access to education, sport, work and other extracurricular activities.

To access free travel, all students must register for a Youth myki card by creating a new account and logging into their myki account. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email that can be used as valid proof of entitlement while you wait for the physical card to arrive.

Any queries, call  Transport Victoria on 1800 800 007.
