Thanksgiving

Some reflections on DCC’s Thanksgiving Day.
I am thankful for a year where we have been able to celebrate God’s grace.
From our earliest days, our founders and early families lived to set up for us a hopeful and hope-filled heritage - built on Christ, grounded in purpose;
Life together as a school meant learning to grow in exercising grace to one another - from seeds to strong branches.
I’m thankful we could reflect on how we, as a community, have flourished because of our faith - strengthened in grace and fellowship under our creator God.
And as we gathered today in thanksgiving, we paused to consider our part in the ongoing story characterised by a legacy of love. We should continually ask - what is the part each of us will play in being living examples of God’s love for each other?
I am thankful for how so many in our community have passionately committed to doing 50 acts of kindness. Deliberate, anonymous, small, big. Once you get to 50, how can you stop?
And finally, I’m thankful for the story yet to be told. What an incredible experience our thanksgiving services have been today – seeing the way students exercised their God-given talents, in worship of Him.
And I am thankful for the cast of literally thousands – all those who gathered today, and those who couldn’t make it, for the ways they have supported, cheered and grown our Christian school community.
What will the future hold? The great thing is – God reveals it only when we’re ready to act on it.
DCC – you have my admiration, you have my prayers, you have my love. God bless you all.
As the psalmist says in Psalm 100,
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Shalom.
