Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

TWILIGHT SPORTS:

What an amazing Twilight Sports we had last week, it was wonderful to see so many of our families with their picnic set up for an eventful evening of sports. I was blown away by the sportsmanship shown on the night from all our students, there was plenty of cheering and words of encouragement shared amongst everyone showing the true spirit of competition! I would like to again thank Mr Stokes and Mr Adaman for organising the running of the event along with our wonderful staff who ensured everything ran smoothly! I would also like to thank all those who helped with the PFA BBQ - many hands make light work.

Congratulations to GOLD HOUSE for being our overall winning team of the evening!

STAFFING 2026:

We are pleased to announce that our staffing structure for the 2026 academic year has now been finalised.

As previously announced, we will be farewelling Mrs Patricia Zomer at the end of this year. We also wish to announce the departure of Signora Toni Di Petta, Mrs Yvette Hernyak and Mrs Jane Hall at the conclusion of 2025. We extend our deepest gratitude to Mrs Zomer, Signora Di Petta, Mrs Yvette Hernyak and Mrs Hall for their remarkable contributions to the St. Leonard’s community. We wish them all the very best in their future endeavours.

We are thrilled to announce Mrs. Tricia-Rose Robinson will be taking on the key role of Learning Diversity in 2026. Furthermore, we are delighted to formally welcome Ms. Maddie Di Cosmo to our teaching staff for the 2026 school year.

SCHOOL FEES:

When considering fees and levies for 2026 we are trying to keep these reasonable whilst balancing the increase in fees and charges that are passed on to our school. The following is a schedule of the fees and levies for 2026.

YOUNG MINDS: OUR FUTURE STUDY

The Australian Government has funded an Australia-wide study of child and adolescent mental health and wellbeing. The study, known as Young Minds: Our Future (#YMOF), will survey families across the country. This research, led by Curtin University and The University of Queensland, will help improve mental health services for all young Australians. Selected households in our area will be approached in person by interviewers from Roy Morgan over the next few weeks. You may also get a flyer in your mailbox. You can’t opt in but if you're invited, we encourage you to make your voice count.

For more information, visit www.ymof.org.au where you can watch a short video about the survey. You can also contact youngminds@curtin.edu.au

nForma Parent Portal Update

As mentioned earlier this year, we are moving to the nForma Parent Portal for all school communications, newsletters, attendance and reports. We are currently in the process of transitioning to this new platform.

Many of you may have already noticed that this term’s newsletters have been sent via the portal. Information about Twilight Sports was also sent at the end of last week for you to respond to. Some of you may also have received First Aid notifications about your child attending Sick Bay. You will receive notifications in the following ways:

  • On your phone: If you’re using the nForma for Parents app, (and depending on how you set it up), you will receive both banner notifications on your phone and an email prompting you to log in.
  • On a computer: If you prefer to use the desktop version (without the app), you’ll receive email notifications only.

IMPORTANT - Please read and complete the following:

We need families to enter their children’s medical information on nForma ASAP. We will no longer have access to our data on Operoo from December so it is imperative that your child’s medical information is updated by December 1st.

At the moment we aren’t using the chat feature on nForma, so if you are messaging teachers please continue to either message them via email or Seesaw - otherwise they may not see your message. We will no longer be using Seesaw at the end of this year.

Next year, we’ll share more information about the other exciting features of the portal and how to use them.

As we make this transition, we appreciate your understanding. If you happen to receive duplicate notifications or if something doesn’t work quite as expected, please just let us know. If you are using your phone and experience an issue, please try logging in from a computer or laptop to check whether the issue is on our end or device-related.

You can log into the nForma Parent Portal using this link: https://portal.nforma.com.au/login

Thank you for your support and patience as we begin this new journey together!
