Confirmation Reflection Day
The year 6 students participated in a Confirmation Reflection Day on Tuesday, August 5th at the Community of the Holy Name Spirituality Centre in Cheltenham. They spent their day in prayer and reflection and completed a number of activities based around the signs and symbols of Confirmation and the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit. They received letters of support and affirmation from their families, the SJV students and the staff, which had a powerful impact on them.
Sincere thanks to Elise Fisher and Mick Schinck for their help with this day, and to Fr. Justin for celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation with the Confirmation candidates.
Feast of St. John Vianney
On Monday, August 4th, we celebrated the Feast Day of our school's Patron Saint, Jean- Baptiste- Marie Vianney, known as John in English.
The children participated in a beautiful Paraliturgy, led by the year 3/4 students and then celebrated the day with a tabloid sports morning.
The Prayer of Saint John Vianney
I love You, O my God, and my only desire is to love You until the last breath of my life.
I love You, O my infinitely lovable God, and I would rather die loving You, than to live without loving You.
I love You, Lord and the only grace I ask is to love You eternally.
My God, if my tongue cannot say in every moment that I love You, I want my heart to repeat it to You as often as I draw breath.
Feast of St. Mary of the Cross Mackillop
Friday, August 8th, is the Feast of Australia's first saint, Mary Mackillop.
Mary MacKillop was declared a Saint by Pope Benedict XVI on 17 October 2010. In January 2013, St Mary of the Cross (MacKillop) was declared the Second Patron Saint of Australia. Australia now has two Patron Saints: Mary Help of Christians and St Mary of the Cross (MacKillop).
