Exploring Narratives through "Clancy and Millie and the Very Fine House"
We are thrilled to share the exciting learning journey our kindergarten class has embarked upon from the end of Term 3 until now! Our English Unit has been centered around the delightful book, Clancy and Millie and the Very Fine House by Libby Gleeson. This engaging story has provided a wonderful platform for our students to explore and understand narrative structures, emphasizing that stories can be conveyed through various modes and media.
Throughout our exploration, the children have made thoughtful comparisons to classic tales such as The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. By examining these familiar narratives, our young learners have gained a deeper appreciation for storytelling elements, such as characters, settings, and plots.
To bring these stories to life, we have embraced puppetry and acting as creative methods for retelling. The enthusiasm and participation from all students have been truly inspiring! They have taken on roles, crafted their own puppets, and collaboratively created scenes, fostering both their creativity and teamwork skills.
Reflecting on our progress, it’s incredible to think that at the beginning of the year, we were focused on learning to write our names and count to 10. Now, our students are confidently reading and writing, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
As we continue our journey through literature, we look forward to many more engaging activities and learning experiences. Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement!
