Principal Report

Dear Families,

It has been wonderful to see some sunshine finally filtering through over the last week. Our trees are starting to blossom and spring is most definitely in the air. It is hard to believe that we only have two weeks left of term. In those two weeks, so much is happening in our school. We have our 3/4 Camp in the final week, 5/6 Authentic Action in the final week, 1/2 Authentic Action afternoon next Thursday, and Wednesday is our Pupil Free day; however, we also have a team of athletes representing us at the Division Athletics on this day. To round off the term, we have a Sports Colours Day on the final day. Lots for us all to look forward to.

Community Open Morning

Thank you to all of the families who attended our Community Open Morning this morning. It was lovely to see so many of you there. A big thank you to the staff who were here early cooking and preparing the Bacon and Egg rolls: Kelly K, Kellie H, Sam P, Jess N, Sarah S, Kylie W, Chloe H and our student teacher, Bridie. Thanks to all our staff for organising the fabulous activities for us all to do together. Thanks also to the families for signing in; we appreciate your cooperation.

Year 3/4 Authentic Action

If you are on our school grounds at pick-up or drop-off, we invite you to learn about Countries Around the World. Our 3/4 students have created posters to convince you to visit many countries, and they have also created websites with more information, accessible via QR codes on the posters. The 3/4 team have done a phenomenal job, and it was fabulous to roll these out during the community morning. The posters are on the front windows of the SLC.

Child Safety Update

At Dana Street, we are committed to continually improving our processes and procedures to ensure that our students can learn in a safe and happy environment.

As you all know, we have sign-in procedures for visitors, volunteers, contractors, and allied health personnel who come into our school to ensure we know who is on our school site and can ensure their safety in an emergency.

We value the involvement of our families and appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe, calm and focused learning environment for all students. To support child safety, student wellbeing, and uninterrupted learning, we ask parents and caregivers to avoid entering classrooms during the school day and to connect with staff through the school office when needed. This helps us ensure that all students are appropriately supervised and that learning can continue safely and smoothly.

As always, we welcome parents and caregivers before and after school to drop off and pick up their children.

Piano Exams

Last weekend, five of our talented piano students sat their piano exams. The exams give students a chance to celebrate their performance skills and everything they have learnt over the past year. We would like to congratulate Matilda K, Patrick L, Aleida R, Charlotte O and Billie R for completing their exams. We are so lucky to have such a talented teacher in Myrtle Cox. Thank you, Myrtle, for the way you teach, guide, and mentor our young pianists.

Have a great week,

Helen
