Bullying No Way Week

Bullying – No Way: Stand Up, Speak Up

Throughout the week, we were able to highlight how important it is to 'Stand up and speak up' when you see bullying. At Melba College, we have a zero tolerance to any sort of racism or discrimination of any kind, hate language, cyber bullying or name calling.

Each day, there was a highlighted focus, and the launch of our new Student Issue Tracker.

What should you do if you see a friend being bullied?

You don’t have to handle it alone. Being a supportive friend can make a big difference.

  • 🛑Don’t join in – never laugh, encourage or share the bullying.
  • 🤝Support your friend – let them know they’re not alone.
  • 🗣️Speak up safely – if it’s safe, calmly say, “That’s not okay.”
  • 👀Be an upstander – get help from a teacher, wellbeing staff member or trusted adult.
  • 📱Don’t share it – if bullying happens online, don’t like, comment, forward or repost it.
  • 💬Check in afterwards – ask your friend if they’re okay and encourage them to seek support.

Remember: You don’t need to be a hero. Be safe, be supportive and speak up.
