Principals' Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
A warm welcome to Week 4! We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend with family and friends. As we begin another busy and exciting week, we look forward to the many opportunities for learning, connection and growth that Term 3 brings. This Thursday and Friday we will be attending the Term 3 Armidale Catholic Schools Principals Meeting in Inverell. This will be a valuable opportunity for us to come together with colleagues from across the diocese, share ideas and reflect on ways we can continue to support and strengthen our school community.
Stage 3 Family Mass
A sincere thank you to all of the Stage 3 students, families and staff who joined us for the Stage 3 Family Mass at St Patrick's Catholic Church yesterday. It was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together in prayer, reflection and celebration. We are especially grateful to Fr Vic for presiding over the Mass, with Deacon Paul assisting and supporting the celebration. A special thank you also to our Religious Education Coordinator, Mrs Mitchell, for her wonderful preparation and supporting the students in their roles throughout the Mass.
Mary MacKillop
Last Saturday, 8th August, we celebrated the Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first and only canonised saint. Mary MacKillop died in Sydney on 8th August 1909 and was canonised by Pope Benedict XVI on 17th October 2010. Together with Fr Julian Tenison Woods, Mary founded the Sisters of St Joseph, establishing a religious order dedicated to providing education and care for children, particularly those living in rural and disadvantaged communities. The Josephites went on to establish schools and welfare institutions throughout Australia and New Zealand, including our own school here in Tamworth. Mary MacKillop holds a particularly special place in the hearts of our St Joseph’s school communities, as her life and mission are closely connected to the charism and work of the Sisters of St Joseph. Her example continues to inspire us to live with compassion, courage, faith and a commitment to serving others.
Armidale Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all of our fantastic athletes who represented St Joseph's at the Armidale Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival last Wednesday 5th August. They all demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and gave it their absolute best effort. A shout out to the following students who have qualified to progress to the next round of competition at the Polding Athletics Carnival - Grace, Alaska, Mason W, Zavier and Ryan. Well done also to the Junior Boys Relay team for coming in 3rd place!
At the conclusion of the day, Ryan was awarded Junior Boy Champion, an incredible achievement and a wonderful recognition of his outstanding efforts throughout the carnival. Well done Ryan!
