Mr Hyatt

Still watching the rain fall!

Hi everyone, I hope all our families are doing well. I'm currently at Lovedale for the Diocese's Term 2 Principal's Meeting and the NSW Primary Catholic Schools Principal's Conference, and it's been consistently raining since Monday! Yesterday, I thought all of us would get stranded at the motel as Lovedale has received close to 200mm since I have been here. It has been valuable catching up with colleagues and the presentations have been very insightful.

Earlier this week, an announcement was made regarding my temporary appointment as Acting Principal at St Mary's Primary School in Armidale for the final five weeks of this term.  My decision to take on this role is primarily to support St Mary's Primary School, in particular, our former principal, Mrs Burton, who will be on extended leave.

I want to assure everyone that I have evey intention of returning to St Patrick's on the first day of Term 3. This is a temporary secondment, and my commitment to our school remains steadfast.

During my absence, Mrs Makeham will be stepping into the role of Acting Principal, and I have complete confidence in her ability to lead our school with great skill and dedication.

Before I head to St Mary's, I am focused on ensuring several key initiatives are underway or completed at St Patrick's. This includes the practice high jump session next Tuesday, our participation in the Catholic Schools Week Mass and the initial preparations for our Parish's First Holy Communion Program. I fully intend to be present for this special First Holy Communion ceremony on June 22nd.

In the meantime, I hope to have the opportunity to connect with many of you before the end of next week. Thank you for your understanding

Catholic Schools Week

Next week we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week.

On Wednesday 28th May, as part of the celebrations, our school leaders and I will join other schools for Mass at the cathedral.

Uniform Swap for this upcoming Tuesday and Wednesday

Please note that all students will be required to wear their sports uniform next Tuesday, May 27th, instead of the usual Wednesday. This change is due to high jump practice taking place that day before I head to St Mary's Primary School the following week.

Students will then return to wearing their normal winter uniform on Wednesday, May 28th.

The date of our annual athletics carnival will be made very soon.

SAC Meeting this upcoming Tuesday evening

The School Advisory Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 27 commencing at 5:30 pm in the school staff room.

The Winner of 'Wearing Uniform With Pride' Award Is.......

Katie has been chosen as the recipient of the 'Wearing Uniform With Pride' award for this week. I would like to extend my congratulations to Katie for consistently demonstrating pride in her school and sports uniform.

Semester 1 Reports

As this term is approaching its halfway point, our teachers are beginning to collect data as well as completing various student assessments in preparing for this semster's reports. These reports will be on Compass parent portal. Should you have any questions after reviewing your child's report, please feel free to contact their class teacher during Week 10.

The Semester 1 Report provides parents with an overview of their child's achievement and development in all key learning areas, as well as their level of engagement and socialinteraction.

The government requires a five scale grading system. In place of the A-E grade, a new language is being used to describe the level of knowledge and skills demonstrated by each child. This is comprehensively explained in your child's report.

SCHOOL HOURS

Supervision of students commences at 8:30am, there is no supervision prior to this time, therefore no students should be onsite.
