The 3/4 Market Stalls event was a vibrant and creative celebration, filled with a happy buzz throughout the Arts Centre. Student engagement and agency were clearly on display, and it was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and teamwork in action.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event by purchasing stall items, helping raise funds for Zoos Victoria.
Congratulations to all the students for their efforts, and a huge thank you to the 3/4 teaching team for bringing this rich learning experience to life.
I felt very spoilt to receive my very own Prairie Dog badge, such a thoughtful touch! They really are the cutest animals!
Our school camps are a valuable part of the learning journey at POPS, providing students with rich opportunities to develop independence, resilience, and stronger social connections.
To support families in preparing for upcoming camps, we will be holding online Parent Information Sessions on Wednesday, June 11 for the following year levels:
5:30 pm: Year 3 – Candlebark Farm, Healesville, September 17-19
6:00 pm: Year 4 – Sovereign Hill, Ballarat, September 3- 5
6:30 pm: Year 5/6 – Phillip Island Adventure Camp, September 10- 12
The Webex link will be shared via Compass on Tuesday June 10. These sessions will cover topics such as accommodation, transportation, activities, food, medical considerations, costs and payment timeline, as well as packing considerations.
We look forward to your attendance and to partnering with you in making these experiences a success for all students.
Next Tuesday is a Curriculum Day. Students will not attend school, as teachers will be using the day for assessment and reporting purposes.
Teachers are currently finalising student reports and will use this day to discuss and moderate student work. This process helps ensure accurate assessment against the new Victorian Curriculum achievement standards.
As previously communicated, student reports will look slightly different this semester due to the updated curriculum. There will be no direct comparison between the old and new curriculum marks. Instead, students will receive a progression point, with clearer progress shown in Semester 2, once two data points under the new curriculum are available.
Another key change is in Mathematics reporting. Students will now receive a single achievement mark, which reflects an average across all strands taught: Number, Algebra, Measurement, Space, Statistics, and Probability. This may make it seem as though some students' results have shifted unexpectedly.
Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification during Student-Led Conferences. Teachers will explain marks using the assessment data that supports each student's report.
School Values Award: Congratulations to Zach M (FM) for demonstrating the school value of Kindness. When a classmate’s money fell down the drain, Zach generously bought them a cupcake. A wonderful and thoughtful gesture, well done, Zach!
Congratulations to Summer C (6I) on her outstanding achievements at the Gymnastics State Championships on May 17–18.
Summer will now represent Victoria at the National Gymnastics Championships in Queensland this July. Well done, Summer!
Division Cross Country: Congratulations to all the students who represented POPS at the Division Cross Country last Tuesday. They did an outstanding job, each giving their personal best. A special congratulations to Judd H, who has qualified for the Region Cross Country competition! To read more about this event go to the Sports News page.
