MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL

NAPLAN - Year 3 and Year 5 Students

Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 students for their participation in the NAPLAN assessments this week. It was the first time that our Year 3 students had participated in the formal assessment style of NAPLAN. I am proud of all of our students, as they showed grit, determination and perseverance by trying hard to show their personal best efforts. A big shout out goes out to our Year 5 students, who experienced major delay on the online NAPLAN platform on the day of the Writing assessment. There was a nation-wide technical issue and it took some students 90 minutes of waiting before they could begin. Everyone showed great patience and flexibility.

We receive results towards the end of Term 2. The results show us as a school how well the students are learning the curriculum for Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar, Punctuation and Numeracy.

VSBA Project - Basketball Court /           Soccer Pitch

Our project has finally begun! Here is a copy of the plans for the upgrade of our soccer pitch and basketball court.

We are feeling so fortunate that this project is becoming a reality. However, we know that in the interim, we will have some students who will be missing the active recess and lunch breaks. We are discussing other options for play times with the students and we will have more news soon.

Student Voice at Assembly

At Week 6’s assembly, we heard some lovely speeches from our 5/6 students regarding Ramadan and International Women’s Day.

I neglected to include Marianne Gai, from 3/4B, so I asked Marianne to type her speech into my Principal’s Message:

Dear Dinjerra,

Happy International Women’s Day!

We are glad you are here as proud Dinjerra girls to take on the life of a warrior.

So stand proud and celebrate who we are as Women and Girls.

Thank you to the families who have already paid the Parent Payments at the office or via Compass. If you go to your Compass app, you will be able to see the breakdown of payments and pay in sections.

Please contact Karlee Griffiths, our business manager if you would like support with the payments. The Department of Education and Training’s (DET) policy is that the Parent Payments are voluntary. Any contribution really does help the functioning of our school and cover stationery and classroom costs. Thanks in advance.
