PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Lindy Burke

It has been a busy and exciting week at Echuca East Primary School.

Our much-anticipated Gaga Pit is finally up and running! A huge thank you to Peter Kyne, who generously spent time over the long weekend constructing it for our students.

The Gaga Pit has been extremely popular, with students from all year levels enjoying the fast-paced game throughout the week. It has been wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, laughter and active play in the yard.

NAPLAN testing also commenced this week for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. On Wednesday morning schools across Australia experienced a technical disruption to the national assessment platform during the Writing test. The national body responsible for NAPLAN, the (ACARA), confirmed that testing resumed shortly after the initial incident and has apologised for the disruption experienced by students during the writing assessment.

ACARA has advised schools should continue NAPLAN testing as scheduled and that measures are in place to ensure students are not disadvantaged as a result of the technical issue. Should parents or carers gave further questions regarding the disruption, they are encouraged to contact the school.

Apart from this interruption, the process had run smoothly, with Thursday's Reading assessment proceeding without issue. Overall, students have approached the assessments positively and are doing their best. NAPLAN testing will continue into next week.

Congratulations to Archie Saunders and Molly Dridan, who recently represented Echuca East Primary School at the regional swimming carnival in Swan Hill. Molly achieved a fantastic silver medal in Breaststroke, while Archie took home gold in his Freestyle event. Archie's outstanding result means he will now go on to represent our school at the Victorian State Swimming Championships in April. We wish him the very best of luck.
