Mr Irwin's Message

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s newsletter

Student Led Conferences

Thankyou to families for making the effort to attend Monday’s Student Led Conferences, or, make arrangements to share in your child’s learning success across alternate times this week. It was fantastic to have such a strong turnout to the conferences and we appreciate the effort families made to attend.

A good point of reflection at this time of year after conferences for families is how they frame conversations about learning and school at home. Do you talk to students about their content knowledge topic at the dinner table, and ask them how their day was? Do you chat to them about challenges they may be facing and provide some positive strategies to manage these?

The following raising children article has some advice on how to best approach this;

District Athletics

Yesterday we had 35 students attend the Flinder’s District Athletics Carnival. The students who attended were greeted by beautiful winter weather and did an outstanding job competing for Teesdale and showing the school values. Many students who placed in the various events will have the chance to continue to the next round of competition in early September.

100 Days of School

Congratulations to our Foundation students who have now reached their 100th day of school. They’ve done a great job settling into school life at Teesdale. A huge thanks to Miss Whyte and Mrs Kelley for organising such a fun day yesterday and for the support they’ve given our students starting their schooling journey too.

Policy Updates

Did you know that all our school Policies can be found on our website? This includes relevant Child Safe Policies we have to manage the induction of staff, volunteers and contractors to ensure they are suitable for child related employment and how to properly conduct themselves in a school setting.

We have recently made some adjustments to our Complaints Policy and Communication with School Staff Policy to reflect recent legislation around employees ‘right to disconnect’.
