Grade 3 & 4

Term 4 Week 1

It was an interesting start to Term 4 for the Middle Learning Community - we found our new learning space to be the Parish Centre. Many hands made the move seamless, and the home group spaces were set up ready for day one of Term 4.

It was exciting to watch the students settle into their new learning space and they have adapted very well, staff have also adapted well!

We enjoyed our St Bridgid's experience this week. We were able to try our hand at drama and food, where the students made teddies in blankets and in science they created cloud play dough; some were more successful than others, but everyone participated. Thank you to St Brigid's staff for making us feel welcome.

Mission Day was enjoyed by all and the work done by the students to get their activities organised was amazing to see. They worked cooperatively in small groups to plan, activate and ensure the stall ran smoothly with everyone's assistance.

For Inquiry this term, the topic is Australia's neighbours, and to begin this, the students made their own passports and, with the support of airline crew, took a flight to see where some of these countries were. We will learn more about these countries as the term unfolds.

In literacy and numeracy, we have been completing various assessments. The Year Fours have been reading 'The Fox' by Margaret Wild, and the Year Threes have been reading 'Go Go and the Silver Shoes' by Jane Godwin.

The students all participated in aspects of First Aid as they learnt some of the fundamentals of how to assist someone who needs assistance when hurt or injured.

Grade 4 students are extremely excited this week as they prepare to head off to camp at Portland. They are looking forward to enjoying a range of exciting activities, including exploring a beach environment, looking at coastal rock formations, beachcombing for interesting things and visiting the Maritime Museum to learn more about the history of seafaring life in Portland.  While these activities are certainly a highlight, some of the best moments will come from simply spending time together—exploring the campgrounds, chatting with friends, playing games and enjoying the wonderful experience of being away together. It promises to be a fantastic couple of days filled with adventure, laughter, friendship and plenty of memorable moments!
