Dear St Michael’s School families,

Prayer

A Prayer of Thanks for the Seasons

Dear God,

Thank You for the seasons,

Each one a special gift from You.

Thank You for spring,

With blooming flowers, baby animals,

And the joy of new beginnings.

Thank You for summer,

With sunny days, cool swims,

And fun with friends and family.

Thank You for autumn,

With colorful leaves, crisp air,

And cozy times at home.

Thank You for winter,

With sparkling snow, warm clothes,

And holidays filled with love.

Help us enjoy each season,

And see Your love in all You’ve made.

Amen.

STAFF UPDATES

As expressed last term, Mrs Emma Quinless leaves us this week as she commences parental leave. We wish Emma and her husband, Mick, all the very best as they welcome their third child to the family and look forward to her eventual return. Ms Chloe Lawlor has commenced working with us this term, shadowing both Emma and Sam Isaacson in the leadership positions of Student Wellbeing and Learning Diversity. Chloe will commence these positions at St Michael's School at the start of Term 3.

The Performing Arts Specialist role is being undertaken by Miss Alannah Morris for the remainder of this term. Alannah comes highly recommended and will be following the program in the Performing Arts as already planned and documented by Emma and continuing to develop performance skills in readiness for delving into our School Production work for Term 3.

This week we also welcome Miss Kate Van Sebille to Five/Six G as Miss Casey started her long service leave. Kate will be teaching the class until the end of Term 2 in Jess' absence.

SACRAMENT OF FIRST EUCHARIST

We welcome families of children in Year Four to take part in the Eucharist Information session TONIGHT, Thursday 15th May, from 6.00-7.00pm in the hub. The child and at least one parent needs to be present for this session. Notices have gone out onto Operoo about this program. Further details can be found on our Religious Education page.

VIDEOGRAPHER AT ST MICHAEL'S SCHOOL

Next Thursday 22nd May, we will have a videographer onsite to take short videos of children at St Michael's (only those who have been given permission for this). I ask that all children next Thursday are dressed in full school uniform on this day. If they have a PE lesson on this day, please pack runners separately. Year Five / Sixes will have interschool sports on this day so if possible, could they please pack school uniforms and bring these to change into after first break? I appreciate your support with this!

OPEN MORNING - SATURDAY 10TH MAY

Last Saturday we held an Open Morning to conduct school tours. It was great to see the range of families come through, with children of all ages, inquiring about St Michaels' programs and what we have to offer. Two of our school captains, Aaliyah and Oli, were available to speak to the families on the tours as well and did an amazing job at selling our wonderful school.

2026 PREP ENROLMENTS

A reminder to all our families who have a child coming into Prep in 2026, please ensure you have completed the enrolment form and submitted this to the school office as soon as you're able.

YEAR FIVE / SIX CAMP - SOVEREIGN HILL

A fabulous week was had at Sovereign Hill, Ballarat, with our Year Five/Sixes on their school camp. With a History focus, the students embellished their learning from the classroom about the Gold Rush era of Victoria and the lives people led back then. They had the opportunity to pan for gold, experience school from that time, view the types of clothing worn and see what the living conditions were like in the 1850s. A memorable and enjoyable experience for all. I wish to thank Eloise Ellis, Ray Hickey, Elise Rimington, Jess Casey, Jordan Lo Ricco, Darcy Truin and Kate Borg for their time away from their families to be present with our students last week!

NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME

Next week, St Michael's students will take part in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS). National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 25th successful year, this event aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Prep to Year 6. Our story this year will be: The Truck Cat
