Science:
Last term in Science, Stage 3 focused on determining the difference between contact and non-contact forces and how energy is transformed from one form to another. We shared their waterwheel creations and the testing process for their durability.
Leading on from this, the students were given the opportunity to design and construct a boat that would float. At the end of last term, they went on an excursion to the Narrabri Aquatic Centre to test their designs in the splash pool. What a successful experiment!
I personally loved the water wheels we created for science last term. We were able to bring in supplies to make our own design and test it with our partners in front of our peers - Willow.
During Science, we got to make our own custom boats. It was a fantastic experience for us as we took them to the town pool to test. Each boat was tested to see if it could float and if it was able to carry cargo. This was such a fun experience - Zoe.
Sport:
Platform & Co are once again teaming up with classroom teachers to provide students with fun and engaging PE activities each Monday. For the Stage 3 students, there has been a great deal of focus on running skills and Athletics. Last week, they focused on Long Jump and learnt how to measure the correct distance for the run up as well as the technique used to jump and land.
They look forward to upcoming lessons and practicing their High Jump and Shot Put - all in readiness for the upcoming Athletics Carnival.
During this year, we have been very lucky to have Platform & Co come to our school and facilitate PE sessions with us. They have taught us lots of very fun games as well as refining our technique when doing long jump and shot put in preparation for the Athletics Carnival later this term. Each session has been very enjoyable for us all - Lilian.
