This week, we were thrilled to unveil a stunning new mural created by our incredibly talented Art Academy students under the expert guidance of Sarah Lowe and Penny Fernandez. The artwork adds a vibrant splash of colour and creativity to our campus, perfectly capturing the spirit of imagination that makes Bluff Road such a special place. A huge thank you to everyone involved. Your creativity and collaboration continue to inspire our whole community!

A heartfelt congratulations to our Year 12 students on their graduation! It was a truly special evening at Robert Blackwood Hall on October 19th, celebrating the achievements, friendships, and journeys of an outstanding cohort. We are so proud of everything you’ve accomplished and the way you’ve represented Bluff Road throughout your senior years. As exams begin, remember that confidence comes from preparation. Trust your hard work, stay calm, and give it your best. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!

Congratulations also to all students who participated in our recent Music Soirée. The evening was a true celebration of talent, from soulful vocals to powerful instrumental performances, and a showcase of the creativity that makes our Bluff Road community so special. It was fantastic to see all your hard work come together in a sold-out theatre, a testament to your dedication and passion for music. Thank you to our amazing music staff and supportive families who helped make the night such a memorable success.

With Year 7 and 8 exams fast approaching, it’s important to remember that effective study isn’t about cramming; it’s about retrieving. Research in cognitive science consistently shows that retrieval practice, the act of actively recalling information, is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen learning and long-term memory.

When students retrieve information from memory, they reinforce the neural pathways that store knowledge, making it easier to access later. Studies have shown that students who regularly test themselves retain significantly more than those who simply re-read their notes. In other words, learning happens when you pull information out, not just when you put it in.

To support students in their preparation, please see the Year 7 and 8 exam timetable below and plan your study using these evidence-based strategies.
