Assistant Principals' Report

Hello and welcome to our newsletter item for this week.
Welcome back everyone, I hope you had a great holiday and have returned to school refreshed with all the batteries recharged. I enjoyed a couple of days away at Bendigo on the last weekend and the reminder of the time just resting and working around the house, watching a few movies and diving into a few books as well.
During our recent school holidays National NAIDOC Week 2026 was celebrated from 5 – 12 July 2026 with the theme "50 Years of Deadly". The theme celebrated half a century of the NAIDOC movement as a national celebration, honouring First Nations Elders, organizers, artists, and communities.
- National Awards: The 2026 National NAIDOC Award finalists were announced at the start of the week, with the late Rhoda Roberts AO recognized with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
- Community Celebrations: Thousands participated in cultural, educational, and family-friendly community events, marches, and showcases across the country, such as the major march to Parliament House in Melbourne and community festivals in Byron Bay and Geraldton.
- Local Activities: Communities accessed local event funding via the GrantConnect NAIDOC Local Grants program to host art exhibits, dancing, and truth-telling sessions.
To explore the winning artwork, read about the award winners, or look back at the national coverage, visit the official NAIDOC website.
The official poster (see below) was painted by Zaachariaha Fielding and titled Paralpi.
Zaachariaha said:
“Paralpi is about movement — movement through generations, through memory, through song and story. It speaks to the strength our people carry and the beauty of culture continuing to evolve while staying deeply connected to who we are.”
Thank you to all the students who have entered the 'Duke' colouring competition. All the students did a fantastic job and it was/ will be very hard to narrow it down to the top 3 from each level in the school. We will announce the winners at the assembly on Monday.
Have a great weekend and week ahead.
Warm Regards
