Exciting OLF News

Year 2 Mercy Value - Stewardship  'Kick-Off' for Charity

As a culmination of the Year Two Mercy Value - Stewardship.  The Year Two students will participate in a ‘Kick-off’ event on Wednesday 25th October. They are kicking their handmade Sock Balls into goals to raise money for Socktober, a Catholic Mission initiative.

To raise further money for children in Timor Leste they will raffle off a signed Western United FC jersey donated by their goalie - Matthew Sutton. An ex-OLF school captain! The raffle cost is $2 per ticket and will be drawn in Week 6. We encourage all students to bring in $2 to buy a raffle ticket and help Year Two reach their fundraising goal. Tickets will be sold at lunchtime out the front of the Year 2 classrooms. We will have two winners!

Many thanks,

The Year Two Teachers

Beautiful welcome for our new chicks at OLF!

OLF now has Chickens and a Chick Coop, complete with automatic food and water feeders. The chickens have to step on the food feeder for it to open to keep it secure and the water feeder fills up when they push down the yellow lever with their beak.  Both items came in flat packs and were put together by Hassan and Elijah in Year 6. There is a nest box for them to lay their eggs and a door at the back where we will collect the eggs from. And a big thank you to Mr Bugeja for helping to secure the shed for our new Chickens.

Our OLF Subpod

The Subpod is an in-ground compost system and worm farm. Compost worms and microbes live inside the Subpod and turn all the materials you feed them into rich compost for the plants around it. This has been wonderful to use on our OLF garden.
