Drama - Performing Arts

Unveiling the Curtain, Takes Center Stage.

Drama means telling stories through performance. The students have learned to use their face, body, and voice to portray characters, display emotions and moods, and to demonstrate the actions and movements of what is happening in the story.

Each term, we explored the skills needed to use our face, body, and voice, as well as the vocabulary used when discussing drama techniques. Such vocabulary includes articulation, facial expressions, gestures, improvisation, blocking, scripts, rehearsal, character, musical theatre, role-play, and tableaux.

To practise our skills and learn how to present to an audience, each class had a mini-project to develop and perform to the class. Some of these activities included using a script to put on a play, writing a play based on a picture story book, creating a three-part tableau scene, or rewriting and adjusting a script for a play about life below water.

The Drama program is committed to inclusivity. Every student, regardless of experience, is encouraged to participate and discover their unique voice in the world of theatre. This inclusivity not only enhances the overall experience for participants but also reflects the program's dedication to celebrating diversity and fostering a sense of belonging.
