Attendance Update – Week 2 

Our whole school attendance has lifted slightly this term, moving from 91.05% in Week 1 to 91.41% in Week 2. It’s also fantastic to see that 185 students achieved 100% attendance last week, up from 182 in Week 1 – a wonderful sign of commitment and consistency across our community. 

A special congratulations goes to 3JS, who achieved an incredible 99.52% attendance in Week 2 – almost perfect! This is a fantastic example for the rest of the school and deserves to be celebrated. 

 

Other classes that shone in Week 2 include: 

  • Prep HE – a big improvement of +6.67%, reaching 92.38%. 
  • 2AP – lifted to 94% (+2.5%). 
  • 5EM – a very strong 96.84% (+3.16%). 
  • 6RM – impressive growth to 94.71% (+5.89%) 

     

Thank you to all families for supporting your children in being at school each day, ready to learn and grow. Every day really does count! 

 

Why Attendance Matters 🏫 

  • Missing just one day a fortnight adds up to 20 days a year – the same as a whole month of learning lost
  • Students who attend regularly are more likely to feel connected with their peers, confident in their learning, and prepared for success. 
  • Building strong attendance habits early sets children up for success in later years. 

 

Tips for Strong Attendance 🌟 

  • Morning routines matter – set up a consistent wake-up and get-ready schedule. 
  • Pack bags and lunches the night before to make mornings smoother. 
  • Talk positively about school – show excitement and interest in your child’s learning. 
  • Plan appointments outside of school hours where possible. 
  • Reach out if you need help – we’re here to support families with any barriers to attendance.

If your family is finding it difficult to get to school regularly, please know that we are here to help. You’re encouraged to speak with your child’s classroom teacher or reach out to our Wellbeing Team – Mrs. Antonowicz, Mrs. McSweeney or Mr. Podosky – for support.

  • Creating a positive morning routine to reduce stress before school 
  • Helping your child feel safe and connected at school 
  • Offering support for separation anxiety or school-based worries 
  • Adjusting your child’s transition into the classroom

PBIS Blitz – Leave No Trace 

This week’s PBIS focus is Leave No Trace. We are encouraging students to take responsibility for their belongings and the school environment. This means making sure rubbish is placed in the bin, equipment is returned after use, and classrooms and playgrounds are left tidy. Just like we care for our homes, we are learning to care for our school so that everyone can enjoy a safe, clean, and welcoming space. Practising Leave No Trace helps us show respect for others, responsibility for our actions, and pride in our community. 

 

🌟 Student Tips – 3 Easy Ways to Leave No Trace 

  1. Put rubbish in the bin (and pick up any scraps you see nearby). 
  2. Return sports equipment and classroom items when you’re finished. 
  3. Check your space before you leave — if it wasn’t there when you arrived, take it with you. 

     

🏡 How Parents Can Support at Home 

  • Encourage children to clean up after meals and activities, reminding them to leave spaces tidy for others. 
  • Model the habit of returning things to their place (toys, books, sports gear) so it becomes second nature. 
  • Talk about respecting shared spaces at home (like the lounge or kitchen) as practice for respecting shared spaces at school.
