What a great day we had at the Whole School Athletics Carnival last Tuesday. Although a little chilly, the sun did come out and the scene was set for a joyful and energetic day. It was a successful day thanks to the organisation of Mrs Thompson, our Physical Education teacher, and the staff. Thank you to all the parent volunteers for your assistance. Congratulations to all our students who participated with enthusiasm, persisted in all their events, and cheered loudly throughout the day! Congratulations to Lourdes on your overall win for the day.
1st place - Lourdes
2nd place - Brigid
3rd place - Fatima
4th place - MacKillop
Students in 5/6 MG reflected on ANZAC Day being such an important time to remember the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought for our countries. They then made an art piece, adding it to their classroom door display to honour the courage, mateship, and resilience of the ANZACs, and to recognize the enduring legacy of their service.
Lest we forget.
Mark your calendars! Friday, May 17th is Walk Safely to School Day, and we're encouraging all students to lace up their shoes and join us for a healthy, eco-friendly commute.
Walking to school is a great way to:
Looking for a walking buddy? Check with classmates who live nearby and walk together!
Can't walk the whole way? No problem! Park a few blocks away and enjoy a brisk walk to school.
See you on Friday, May 17th! Let's walk our way to a healthier, happier school day.

We celebrate achievements at OLA every day in the classroom. Outstanding achievement is celebrated at every assembly in the front of the school. Congratulations to all the students who received an award last week.
Our iSea iCare Ambassadors Ben S, Alice W, Isabelle M and Tynon P, represented OLA on an excursion last term where they explored ways that we can all help look after our ocean and sea life. Back at school they prepared a lesson to teach the Grades one and two about marine conservation. These leaders collaborated to prepare props, write scripts and rehearse the lesson. They are to be congratulated on their meticulous planning and the thoroughly engaging class where the students enjoyed participating in the lesson.
In two weeks our Sustainability Leaders will be representing OLA again, at a Big Green Schools Conference. We know this will be a rewarding experience and we look forward to hearing about their learnings and their ideas for possible sustainability projects back here at school.
On Wednesday, we had over 50 students representing OLA at District Cross Country at Mentone Grammar Playing Fields.
The children have been training hard, attending before school sessions with Mr O’Connor and Miss Riley and lunchtime sessions with Mrs Thompson in preparation for this event.
Everyone gave their best and we achieved great results with 8 children progressing through to Kingston Division on Thursday 23 May. We wish these children all the very best for Division.
