Dear Parents and Carers

Enrolments for 2027

We are starting to look at student numbers for 2027. Can you please advise other community members to contact the school if they intend on enrolling their child/children at Eglinton. Also, if your child/children will not be returning to Eglinton in 2027, please advise the office.

Year 6 Canberra Excursion

Year 6 have just returned to school following their excursion to Canberra. Some of the places they enjoyed the most were Questacon, The Australian War Memorial and watching Parliament in session at Parliament House. It is a huge undertaking for staff to take school groups away on overnight excursions as they are on duty 24 hours a day. I would like to say a big thank you to Ms Charlton, Ms Carlisle, Mr Cashen and Ms Miller for giving up their time and taking such good care of our students and providing them with a wonderful experience.

High expectations for Student Behaviour 

At our school, we are committed to providing safe and positive learning environments for all students.

We are introducing the revised Student Code of Conduct and School Behaviour Support and Management Plan, which will be implemented at our school by the end of 2026. This will help everyone understand what behaviour is expected and make sure every student feels safe and supported.

Strengthening our approach to bullying

At our school, every child deserves to feel safe, respected and supported. That is why we take all concerns about bullying—including online behaviour—very seriously.

We are aligning with the NSW Anti-bullying Framework by the end of 2026 to strengthen how we prevent, identify and respond to bullying.

As part of this commitment, we will take action to respond to reported bullying concerns within two school days of becoming aware of them. Our School Behaviour and Support Management Plan will describe the types of action we may take in response to reported bullying incidents. While some concerns can be resolved quickly, others may take more time to work through. We encourage you to let us know about any concerns as early as possible so we can work together to support your child and ensure they feel safe and supported at school.

Revised Student Code of Conduct

The Student code of conduct sets clear expectations for behaviour across all NSW public schools. It is designed to help all students understand what is expected of them and support them to be successful. It also helps us make our school an environment where every student feels safe, included and supported.

We want every student to feel safe, respected and ready to learn. That's why we have three simple expectations for all students:

• Respect everyone

• Be responsible

• Be safe

   

These expectations apply wherever students are  - in the classroom, in the playground, on excursions, online, or in school uniform in the community.

We encourage you to read and discuss the Student Code of Conduct with your child. Talking about these expectations at home can help your child understand how they contribute to a positive, respectful learning environment.

From 2027, students and parents or carers will be asked to confirm that they have read and understood the Student code of conduct.

Student Code of Conduct

The Student Code of Conduct applies to all NSW public school students. It applies to all school activities, both on and off the school site, including online, and how students conduct themselves individually and with other students, teachers, school staff and community members.

Teachers will continue to refer to the Student Code of Conduct throughout Terms 3 and 4 to ensure all students have a clear understanding of the expectations and the positive behaviours that help create a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment.
