Congratulation Harry!

I am very pleased to announce that the Foundation Citizen of the Term is Harry.

Harry is a pleasure to teach and always brightens everyone’s day. He has such a positive attitude to everything he does and displays all our school values of Care, Respect, Excellence and Community.

I’ve learnt that Harry loves the Tigers, soccer, Lego, Mobilo, drawing, his Aunty Nat, Minecraft and reading books with Mum and Dad at night.

Harry’s favourite thing to do at school is play tag with his friends. I’m pretty sure Harry plays this at every break. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a group of little boys play tag so often but also so cooperatively and respectfully.

Harry is an independent and organised learner who takes a lot of pride in the presentation of his work. He follows our school rules with ease. He is an active listener and happily waits his turn to speak. He will always give everything his best shot even if he finds it a bit tricky, and that’s all we can ever ask.

Harry is a very calm, patient, and friendly student who is always kind to anyone around him. The other day, I caught Harry saying something really kind to make another child feel better about themselves. Harry had overheard the child explaining to someone else that he has trouble with his talking and getting his words out, and Harry let them know not to worry as that happens to him too sometimes. I was so pleased to witness this interaction between these two little boys and so proud of you, Harry.

Harry, we are so lucky to have you in our class. Keep being the wonderful little person that you are.

Congratulations Charlotte!

We would like to congratulate Charlotte.

Charlotte truly embodies what it means to be a dedicated learner, and a caring member of the Ballarat North Primary School community.

Since her first day in Grade 1, Charlotte has worked exceptionally hard to become a confident, independent, and resilient learner. We all know that learning new things isn't always easy. It takes courage to try new things and face challenges, and what makes Charlotte so special is her mindset. When a task gets challenging—whether it’s trying to read a tricky word or solving a math problem—Charlotte never gives up.  Instead of getting discouraged, she uses positive self-talk, quietly encourages herself to 'have a go,' and keep trying. Charlotte has learnt that with practice and time, learning can become easier. Her quiet determination is an inspiration to everyone in our classroom.

Charlotte is a wonderful, supportive, and inclusive friend to so many students at our school. She has a caring attitude and notices the little things. If a classmate is having a tough day, she is right there to offer a gentle pat on the back, an encouraging word, or just some quiet company so they don't feel alone. She makes sure everyone feels included in the playground and in the classroom.

Charlotte brings a wonderful sense of happiness to our school community.  Her sense of fun is completely infectious—when a light-hearted moment occurs, her cheerful laugh lifts the entire room, and it is impossible not to share in her joy.

Charlotte’s positive attitude towards learning, and determination to achieve her personal best, have made her a wonderful role model for all the students at our school.  Congratulations on receiving the Grade 1/2 Citizen of the term, Charlotte, you're most deserving of this award!

Congratulations, Neave!

It gives us great pleasure to present the 3/4 Citizen of the Term to Neave. Neave is a very deserving recipient of the Citizen of the Term. When considering candidates for this award, students who come to mind are those who consistently embody the values that are at the heart of our school — Care, Respect, Excellence and Community. These children lead by example, make a positive difference to those around them, and help make our school community such a special place. Neave demonstrates our values to a high standard, daily.

Neave’s caring and considerate nature, make her a valued member of our class community. She demonstrates care through her interactions with her peers and her thoughtful and gentle approach. Neave recognises when someone is having a challenging day and shows genuine care by checking in and communicating her concerns with a trusted adult.

She is a respectful student who understands and helps create a safe and encouraging learning community. Neave works quietly, listens attentively, follows directions, and patiently waits her turn. She values the ideas, feelings, and contributions of her classmates.

Neave takes responsibility for her learning. Her commitment to excellence shines through in her determination to work hard and no matter what, she continues trying. Neave is embracing mistakes as a part of learning and when she is faced with a challenge, she persists and doesn’t give up. Neave asks for help, seeks clarification, and participates in workshops to help her understanding. She puts effort into all areas of school life and takes pride in the presentation of her work. During independent learning you will find Neave focussed and working purposefully on the task at hand.

Neave, this award celebrates much more than your achievements. It celebrates the person you are, who you are becoming and the way you approach each day. You have shown that progress comes from being brave enough to have a go, humble enough to ask for help and determined enough to keep going. Neave, be proud of how far you have come, believe in what you can achieve and never underestimate the power of simply keeping on trying.

Congratulations on being awarded the 3/4 Citizen of the Term. Continue to shine bright!

Congratulations Chase!

Today, I am very proud to present the 5/6 Citizen of the Term Award to Chase.

Chase, you are a wonderful example of our school values of Care, Respect, Excellence and Community.

You have such a caring nature and a great sense of humour. You bring so much joy to our classroom, and your talent for oral presentations is something that really stands out. In fact, when Chase starts an oral presentation, you know you are in for a good story… and possibly a few laughs along the way!

One of the things I admire most about you is your 100% effort. You are a curious learner who immerses himself in his learning. You ask questions, explore ideas and genuinely want to understand the world around you. I know I’m in for a brain teaser when you randomly appear in front of me and say, “I just have two questions!”

And Chase, I have learnt that when you say “two questions”, I should probably make sure I have a comfortable chair!

You are also a quiet achiever. You do not seek praise or recognition from others. You simply get on with the job and take pride in doing your best. You are not someone who needs a round of applause every time you finish a task, although today, I think you deserve a very big one!

Chase, you are someone who gives things a go, even when you are unsure. You show courage by having a try, learning from your mistakes and not giving up when something is challenging.

You are also incredibly inclusive of others. You make people feel welcome, and you are often the first to put your hand up to do a job that others might see as undesirable.

Whether it is helping with a classroom task or being “it” in our games of China Wall, you are always willing to contribute. And let’s be honest, Chase, being “it” in China Wall is not exactly the most popular job in the classroom! But you are always happy to do it, which says a lot about the kind of person you are.

In fact, if we ever need someone to volunteer for a job that nobody else wants, I think we all know who we can count on. Chase, you are basically our classroom’s official volunteer specialist!

These qualities make you a wonderful member of our 5/6 community.

Chase, I am very proud to be giving you this award today, and I know you will have some very proud classmates too.

Congratulations, Chase. You are a very deserving Citizen of the Term, and I think we can all agree that you have earned a well-deserved round of applause!
