Principal's News

Dear Families,

Welcome Back

As we begin this new school year, I warmly welcome students, families and staff, and our parish community back to school. I hope the Christmas and holiday period provided time for rest, renewal and precious moments with family and friends.

We are delighted to welcome our Prep families tomorrow. School will begin at 8:50am and conclude at noon on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for our Prep students. Samantha and Lauren are excited and ready to go! Family members are invited to join our school leaders in the staffroom for Tissues and TimTams after classroom drop off tomorrow.

I am also thrilled to welcome our newest teaching staff; Tom Marinelli who will be teaching Music while Zoe is on leave, Emma Saliba who has now graduated as a teacher, and Joshua Fairey who comes to us from Flemington Primary. We wish all teachers, and especially Tom, Emma and Joshua happy and successful times at HR.

Our Year 1-6 students are scheduled for individual assessments and an opportunity to connect with their new teacher this week. This time provides your child with a valuable opportunity to meet their teacher, to share important information about themselves and to undertake assessments in a timely, confidential and effective way.

We look forward to welcoming Year 1-6 students back to school next Monday 2nd February. The gate will be open from 8:30am.  We are also delighted to welcome new students and their families who will join us on Monday; Casey, Ezra, Asher and Poppy. I know our friendly students and staff are keen to welcome and support them as they settle into the routines and traditions that are so well known at HR.

Welcome Father Andrew

We extend a very warm welcome to our new Parish Priest, Fr Andrew Jekot.  We look forward to working closely with Father Andrew as we continue to strengthen the partnership between our school and parish, walking together in faith and service. I invite all families to join us for our opening Mass on Friday 13th February in Holy Rosary Church.

I thank our staff for their care, professionalism and dedication, and our families for the trust and partnership you bring to our school. We are truly blessed to be part of such a supportive and engaged community.

Prayers

Please hold Clare (Year 1/2) and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Her beautiful Mum passed away late last week. May the memories they hold be a source of comfort, and may Clare be filled with God’s peace and strength in the days ahead.

As a community, we are invited to respond with compassion, sensitivity and prayer. Clare has the love and support of her family and friends at this time.

May perpetual light shine upon Clare's Mum, and may she rest in peace. Amen

Quick Reminders

This section provides quick reminders to ensure we work in ways that best support the safety and learning of all.

  • Andrew is at the crossing morning and afternoon to ensure children are safe when crossing Gower St. Please use the crossing, and remind your children that using the crossing is the safest option.
  • Drive carefully around the school and follow the road rules.  Please, no U turns!
  • Dogs are NOT permitted on the yard or at the gate. We have children who are anaphylactic to dog saliva and those who fear dogs.
  • Ensure your children arrive at school between 8:30 and 8:50am; when the yard is supervised.
  • The specialist timetable begins on Monday.

PE Requirements

To ensure students are prepared for PE:

✅ Sports uniform must be worn.

✅ Hats are compulsory in line with our SUNSMART policy. Students should apply sunscreen before arriving at school.

🚫 Without a hat, students will not be able to participate in PE lessons.

PE Timetable

  • Prep & Year 1/2: Thursdays
  • Year 3-6: Wednesdays

If you have any questions about timetables, please  contact your child’s class teacher.

I wish everyone a happy, successful and peaceful year ahead. I look forward to all that we will share and achieve as we walk together this year.
