TERM 1: 2026 Week 3 & 4: reminders and critical messages

Principal's Message

Hello and welcome to 2026! Thank you everyone for supporting us with a successful first 2 weeks - there has been such a positive and productive, yet calm, feeling around the school.

Overall, it feels that students have settled in well to their new classes, however if you have any concerns or feel that your child needs additional support, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We always advise starting with the classroom teacher first, however a leader is always willing to support you, should you feel that your enquiry needs further direction. On Monday we will be sending out Classroom Introductory letters, which will provide detailed contact information for your child's classroom teacher, as well as a brief overview of the cohort; including curriculum information and key events. If you need to speak to someone prior to this, then please use the office email address: wembley.ps@education.vic.gov.au - the admin team will confidentially pass your email on to the person best suited to assist you.

For 2026, we have entered a year-long partnership with the organisation, Iron Champions, who will be guiding us in our support and mentorship of our upper years students. They will be onsite from next week, starting with a whole Year 6 cohort session, after which they will commence working with small 'huddles' of students and embarking on some 1:1 mentor sessions. More information on this initiatve will be shared with parens of our Year 5 & 6 students next week.

This afternoon we held our first assembly and announced the first round of our school captains. Congratulations to the following students:

Claire Ladd - School Captain

Lennox McIntyre - School Captain

Abigail Smith - School Captain

Eloise Wozniak - School Captain

Charlie Michelle-Wells - Inclusion Captain

Charlotte Gronow - Inclusion Captain

A big well done to our Prep students for attending their first assembly and getting to grips with the routine! We have started counting the days, till they celebrate their first 100 Days at School!

Below you will find some brief reminders about critical upcoming events - and a reminder that these always follow initial communication sent by Sentral. You should be able to find the extended information in your Sentral emails, as well as Sentral Parent Portal Documents.

Thank you again everyone! Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Katie McClue - Acting Principal

Critical Messages

School Council: Our first School Council meeting will be held on Monday February 16th. Visitors are always welcome - we just ask that you inform us ahead of time, so that we can cater accordingly.

Sun Smart & Hats: Please, please, please ensure your child has a navy broad-brimmed hat that is named. Students will be asked to remain under shade if they are out in the yard without a hat.

We have loved seeing the interesting ways people have customised their hats on the outside, so that they can easily tell it is their property - ie: stitching a colourful badge on the brim, or using a pin badge!

Permission Forms and Codes of Conduct: Some permission forms have already been set up on the Sentral Parent Portal, however the remainder will be released on Monday - including theDigital Technologies Acceptable Use Agreementand our Community Code of Conduct

Meet & Greets: A reminder that Meet & Greets are running after school this coming Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th of February - they are designed to be a brief opportunity to meet your child's teacher, hand over any critical information and get a sense of how your child has settled into the new school year. Booking information was sent out via Sentral email - please be mindful of the booking cut off time, which is 4:00pm on Monday 9th.

Preps: Preps will continue to have Wednesdays at home, until the week beginning March 2nd, which will be their first full 5-day week.

School Photos: Whole school photos are booked for Thursday March 5th and will include:

- Class photos

- Individual student photos

- Sibling/family photos (including Prep siblings)

Communication was sent via Sentral yesterday, which included information on how to book sibling/family photos.

Year 6 Captains: We will announce the remainder of our captains, and award badges in two groups - distributed across the next two assemblies. Parents will be informed at the start of the week, so that you can make arrangements to attend, should you wish.
